We are currently looking to recruit a Project Manager - TCMS (m/f) for our site in Derby


The Project Manager is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of the UK portfolio of Train Control Management Systems (TCMS) projects to ensure optimum delivery to contract, time, quality and margin whilst maintaining the highest quality of customer relationship for our Project Core Team in Derby.

Your Tasks

- Manage the Project Initiation and Planning processes to establish within Rolling Stock Train Control Management Systems (TCMS) and other Divisions of BT and Suppliers as appropriate a fully integrated Detailed Project Schedule (DPS), Risk and Opportunities Plan, Orange Book, Contract Allocation, financial parameters

- Manage the Project Execution and Controlling processes to ensure all contract deliverables are identified and delivered in line

- Manage the integration of the Functional Deliverables to the Project through the establishment of an effective Project Core Team: develop effective relationships with all functional heads to ensure that there is visibility of Project status and that all emerging issues are identified

- Build and Manage effective relationships with internal stakeholders

- Protect the company’s interests and maximize opportunity for further business

- Build and Manage effective relationships with the supplying divisions and supply chain as appropriate

- Ensure that Project Risk and Opportunity issues are managed effectively


- Languages: Proficient level of English, a second language is considered a plus

- Degree in BSc / BEng in engineering or business related discipline preferred

- Strong change management skills are essential

- Experience of managing project initiation, planning and execution phases of a live project

- Work experience in the rail industry preferred

- Relevant experience in a similar role required

- Good communication and persuasion skills
