BTRoS (Bombardier Transportation Rolling Stock Ltd.) Interiors & Cabling Division is a market leading ‘One Stop Shop’ build-to-print company for new build, refurbishment and upgrade programmes, and with its broad capabilities in electrical assemblies, harnesses and fabrication it offers a quality solution for this and other ancillary equipment requirements.

BTRoS Interiors & Cabling Division was initially formed in 2010 after acquisition of two key suppliers to the rail industry (electrical & interiors). In 2012 the two divisions were merged and moved to the Derby Bombardier site occupying 8000m2 of production floor space and 1470m2 of warehouse storage space. In September 2015 we were awarded IRIS certification for our core capabilities, ensuring robust quality and operating procedures.

As part of our growth strategy BTRoS Interiors & Cabling Division is looking to broaden our rail market customer base and expand into other Industrial markets.

We can also offer a full turnkey project managed service with site support and commissioning, to meet customer requirements. This can consist of manufacture and supply of product, input into the design for manufacture process, change and configuration management control, kitting of components for most efficient use on site.

BTRoS Interiors & Cabling Division is a subsidiary of the Bombardier Transportation Group but operates as a separate legal entity.

We are currently looking to recruit a Site General Manager (m/f) for the BTRoS Derby site


Based at our UK engineering headquarters in Derby, we are looking for a Site General Manager to lead and shape the BTRoS business with full profit & loss (P&L) responsibility across a full range of functions and teams. In this role you will manage design and production performance ensuring that the high standards of productivity, process stability and quality are met whilst also driving the diverse workforce of 320 to manufacture multiple simultaneous complex build projects to meet time, quality and cost requirements.

Your Tasks

- Management of all resources to meet requirements for production
- Full P&L responsibility to lead and shape the business strategy to grow sales
- Create and sustain a strong team-culture amongst departments in order to ensure an open exchange of information and people within the organization
- Monitor and support the progress across multiple live projects building relationships both with customers and across a diverse supply chain.
- Ensure that Division operates according to the wider Bombardier Transportation company standards in the area of quality, environment & health & safety.
- Lead, sponsor and actively support change and improvement programs that affect the overall efficiency and quality of the organization.


- Degree / MBA qualified with grounding in engineering and manufacturing principles
- A wealth of experience managing a large workforce in a complex, fast paced manufacturing environment (i.e. manufacturing of electrical harnesses, cabinets)
- Ideally rail, aerospace or similar industry background
- Broad knowledge of manufacturing and production principles along with strong financial knowledge and P&L experience running a successful business
- A passion and aptitude to achieve global business growth with examples of past or current success within a commercial role
- Experience in developing suppliers in low cost countries is desirable
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, influence and convince others using strong communication and extensive diplomacy skills
- Availability to travel abroad for business purposes
