Based at our heritage engineering site in Derby, we are currently looking to recruit an experienced Test Manager


The role of the Test Manager is to manage all aspects of the routine testing process in-line with contractual requirements and timescales, working closely with Quality, Production and supporting functions. He/she will ensure budget hours, health & safety and quality requirements are met and trains are fully tested and complete before delivery.


- Ensure all aspects of the testing process are completed, including achieving & improving on level 4 targets, feeding quality issues to suppliers/production via the quality team.
- Provide the test team with right information, procedures, tools and facilities; introduce and sustain lean manufacturing improvements to the testing process.
- Manage a team of blue collar resources, forecast the testing workload and adapt capacity accordingly.
- Ensure activities and test area complies with site Health & Safety requirements, ensuring staff competences and training requirements are met.
- Develop effective professional relationships with internal and external customers to ensure contractual requirements are achieved.
- Be a champion of Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement as the leader of the test line.


- Ideally qualified to degree/HND level in an engineering discipline
- Solid experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment
- A good understanding of engineering/manufacturing disciplines, together with HSE and Quality standards
- Good leadership skills
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and across all functions of the organization
- Decisions making and problem solving skills
