What are your contributions to the team?

In your role, reporting to the Director of Product Development you will:
•    Lead a team of Stress Specialists
•    Participate in the recruitment and integration of new employees
•    Ensure a good, positive, and healthy working environment for the employees (communication, recognition, coaching, and career development plans/opportunities).
•    Ensure adequate engineering resources are allocated to the tasks to support aircraft development and support production and in-service issue resolution
•    Manage and resolve priority conflicts within own department and with internal customers.
•    Be accountable for your group’s performance – deliver on-time, within budget and with quality to support the business objectives.
•    Participate in the organization of departmental governance.
•    Provide visibility on the execution, issues, and escalations, as needed, to your Director/VP.
•    Participate in budget preparation and have accountability for managing financial resources.
•    Identify cost reduction opportunities.
•    Identify training and travel required to support business needs.
•    Develop or adapt tools and processes as needed by the function in order to meet our organizational objectives.
•    Manage the Structures Supplier(s) and establish weekly technical coordination meetings to meet program commitments
•    Develop structure and system installation conceptual layouts for the complete Airframe on new and existing aircraft programs.
•    Closely interface with stress, systems, interiors, and support functions such as thermodynamics, mass properties, etc.
•    Generate preliminary design studies and layouts using 3D modeling. 
•    Provide technical solutions to resolve design or manufacturing issues.
•    Generate and execute weight savings ideas.
•    Supply input to impact analysis (technical, cost, schedule).
•    Support directly other engineering and operations departments. 

How to thrive in this role?

As our ideal candidate,
•    You have a technologist or bachelor’s degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering or aerospace technical field plus a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in aerospace or related industry.
•    You must possess a strong knowledge of aircraft structures and/or systems installation: configuration, preliminary sizing, design for manufacturing, detail design (sheet metal, machined parts, piping, component assembly, GD&T), material and processes, certification requirements, weight control and industry design standards
•    You are a strong team player, working in a multidisciplinary team and can demonstrate strong organizational and managerial skills (planning structure and prioritization)
•    You are creative in finding ways to resolve problems
•    You have experience with supplier management
•    You have knowledge of Change Management and Configuration Management
•    You are organized/self-motivated and bilingual (French, English) with strong verbal/written English skills
•    You have knowledge Continuing Airworthiness (Asset)
•    You have experience with both development and sustaining programs. (Asset)
•    You have a strong familiarity in aerospace manufacturing processes and capabilities.
•    Your familiarity with Aircraft systems overall operation and function is considered an asset.
•    Your familiarity with in-service operation and aircraft maintenance is an asset.
•    Your familiarity with Aircraft Interiors is considered an asset.
•    Knowledge of CATIA V5, Enovia and MS Office is required.
•    Knowledge of NX and Teamcenter is an asset.
•    You are an energetic person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have a high sense of commitment, are willing to accept responsibilities and act independently in a high-pressure partner/supplier team.
•    You must be fluent in English. Knowledge of French is an asset.
