We are looking for Senior Project Controller to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa

Your role

The Senior Project Controller is responsible for ensuring a focus on the achievement of the financial goals of the project. This role manages and reports a consolidated financial and budget view to the Project Core Team and to stakeholders. This role needs to interface with all involved BT Businesses to ensure correct financials at a BT level, and in the affected legal entities and businesses.

The Senior Project Controller is dedicated to the project and is a member of the Project Core Team. The role provides quality and timely information for business decision-making and is a key contact for financial and audit issues relating to the project. This includes close monitoring of project deliverables, assessment and measuring of the financial impact of risks and opportunities and proactive management of cash flow and margins.

This role has a direct link into the projects core team and as such will work in close collaboration with other Project Controllers to improve the processes procedures and reporting across BTs

Your responsibilities

1- Develop financial strategy for the project program. Plan regular business reviews and evaluation of risks and opportunities. Contribute to improvements in business processes and systems. Ensure compliance with appropriate standards and legislation.

2- Ensure the Project Director is continuously updated on the financial status of the project and make the financial situation transparent to the Core Project Team. Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts and Contract cost reporting. Review and analyses budget variances and Contract related Balance sheet items. Assist in quantifying and assessing project related exposures, opportunities, and developing action plans. Support the Project Director in commercial negotiations and preparation of claims.

3- Responsible for the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting as well as customer invoicing, cash-flow management, Warranty provisions, insurance cases, control of costs, and quantification of the impact on costs and profitability of change orders. Ensure close monitoring of all project financial arrangements and ensure internal and external audit requirements met.

4- Consider the customer first when participating in Core Project Team strategic decisions and work to understand and improve customer satisfaction. Build collaborative networks with customers and stakeholders. Provide a single point of contact for customer related project financial issues.

5- Ensure appropriate staffing and performance management of the Finance function in collaboration with the local Heads of Finance. Facilitate training of project team members in financial control, project cash flow, project margins and management of budgets and forecasts. Build cross-functional networks and ensure succession planning if appropriate. Meet Finance service level requirements through continuous improvement and problem resolution. Develop and implement strategies to embed a high performing team culture, champion Bombardier’s values and apply strategies to promote a culture that encourages diversity and inclusion and eliminates discrimination.

6- Lead a risk-focused management culture; drive conformance with the Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and ensure a ‘one team’ approach to financial control, quality management, safety, and business risk

Qualifications

- Tertiary Qualification in Finance/Accounting/Business

- Senior Finance management experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment

- Establishing and supporting business-wide financial, budget and audit systems and processes

- Defining Project financial strategy and integrating with corporate and business strategy

- Proven experience that combines financial leadership, project management and technical engineering/manufacturing exposure
