We are currently looking to recruit an Electromechanical Design Engineer (m/f) in Mannheim, Germany.


The Electromechanical Design Engineer (m/f) will cover the following tasks within the Engineering team:

develop,plan and perform engineering tasks related to electro-mechanical components/assemblies (e.g. cubicles, cableways, skirts, roofs), with main focus on mechanical design. .He/she will be part of the electromechanical integration team within one or more rolling stock projects (locomotives or EMU’s or coaches) and will be responsible of the delivery of electro-mechanical documentation for rolling stock projects.

When required, he will also be responsible to specify, validate and troubleshoot various mechanical systems installed on the vehicle (e.g. dampers, gears, buffers, …)

He/she will create and release the following deliverables on the base of the defined requirements:

• Cable ways models and drawings, cabling layouts

• Harnesses drawings

• Car layouts

• Cubicles, subassemblies and fittings modelling and detailed design

• Mechanical systems documentation ( e.g. TRDs, FEM calculations, test reports)

He/she is responsible that the above mentioned deliverables are realized according to the agreed project schedule in high quality.


1. Integral part of the design team often making mechanical, electrical design recommendations based on experience. Determines the form, fit & function of the design & incorporates cost-effective & manufacturing concepts into the design. Also ensures that designs are completed on time and quality meeting project schedules.

2. Interprets customer specifications to ensure that the design is compliant.

3. Understands and uses supplier design & manufacturing data to aid in development of the design.

4. Interfaces with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing,suppliers and customers as needed.

5. Coordinates, tracks, and manages external design and drafting efforts around his/her workpackages. Mentors less experienced engineers, designers, and drafters.


• Technical education in the field of mechanical or aerospace engineering required
• At least 2/3 years of working experience in railway or similar business
• At least 2/3 years of experience in electro-mechanical integration activities
• Good knowledge of MS Office, E/M CAD (CATIA V5 preferred),Product Data Management Systems (e.g. PDM)
• FEM calculation
• Experience of interaction with manufacturing functions is optional
• Fluent in English and Italian, German is an advantage
