For our Locomotives business in Mannheim we are currently looking to recruit a

Product Safety Engineer Locomotives (m/f)

Your main responsibilities:
• Coordination of all necessary safety activities in our important projects.
• Preparation of safety cases according to actual safety standards in railway industry (e.g. EN 5012x)

• Create a safety plan defining the necessary work to be done for the product
• Proposing safety requirements in concept and early design stage
• Preventing, eliminating and controlling of hazards and risks, anticipation, identification and evaluation of hazardous conditions and practices
• Development of hazard control designs, methods, procedures

• Act as first point of contact for vehicle and system engineering, product/design/contract functions, homologation and externals (validators, assessors, etc.) in safety issues
• Support the overall effort of identifying development gaps, assessing impact and risk and finding effective solutions together with relevant departments by means of design reviews etc.
• Management of suppliers and subcontractors regarding safety relevant issues

Qualifications

Your Profile:

• You have graduated in mechanical or electrical engineering, physics, chemistry, statistics, mathematics or computer science

• You have professional experience and knowledge of product safety, system and process safety, accident investigation and analysis, measurement of safety performance, human behaviour, laws / regulations / standards regarding product safety

• You are experienced in Fault Tree Analysis, FME(C)A and Markov analysis

• Fundamental knowledge of and experience with Project Management tools and processes, several years of experience in technical leadership positions (preferable Safety Management) as well as excellent communication skills are needed to fulfil the coordination activities in large projects

• Fluency in English and German is a prerequisite for working in our international environment and additional languages (esp. French and Italian) are advantageous

• Some willingness to travel is required
