You will have the following responsibilities:

The Technician shall be on call at all times unless alternate arrangements are made in advance. All such alternate arrangements shall be made with the Manager, Technical Operations

Perform interior and exterior vehicle inspection. To ensure the layover systems are functioning and to inspect for any vandalism or other unusual occurrences that would hinder on-time dispatch. Cleaning of car and locomotive interiors

Troubleshooting and fault detection of both coach and locomotive electrical and mechanical systems.

Perform repairs to electrical and mechanical systems, sub-systems and components.

Place train-sets on and remove them from wayside power. Engage Wayside Energy Management system.

Maintain minor materials inventory at the outpost station

Shut down and start up main and auxiliary engines.

Pick-up supplies as required, Provide site security as required, Attend briefings

Qualifications

Grade 12, College degree or certification an asset.

Must be knowledgeable in the Canadian Railway Operating Rules relevant to main line and yard safety procedures, demonstrate an understanding of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting techniques, be capable of reading and understanding maintenance manuals, be conversant with Railway Radio Procedures, Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license.
