We are currently looking to recruit a Design Engineer (m/f) for a fixed term contract of 12 months, based at our Plymouth site:

YOUR ROLE

This design engineer role is specifically responsible for the concept and implementation design of custom enclosures for electronics products, and for the constructional design of systems built from sub-assemblies. They will be responsible for engineering the total process from agreement of concept with customers through generation of manufacturing drawings to engineering support to manufacturing.

YOUR TASKS

- Systems design of safety critical electronic systems
- Production of detailed drawings and parts lists for safety critical electronic systems
- Provide technical support to manufacturing for above systems
- Supervise and check drawings produced by other staff
- Ensure own work is completed in time and fulfilling the appropriate standards

Qualifications

- Ideally HNC/HND/Degree in electrical / electronic engineering discipline.
- Experience in safety critical systems, in industries requiring high reliability standards (e.g. rail, aerospace, defence and military, nuclear, oil&gas)
- Experience in electronics or electrical systems design using CAD software such as Microstation CAD/AutoCAD/CATIA/Solidworks
- 2D design skills are a must, 3D design is nice to have
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to plan and manage one’s work according to appropriate standards and deadlines
