We are currently looking to recruit an Electronics Cell Engineer (m/f) based in Plymouth, United Kingdom.


With over 50 years of experience in providing the latest signalling technology to the UK rail network, Bombardier’s rail control solutions business has a unique appreciation of the market. Our Plymouth site manufactures a range of railway signalling products for the UK and the global market with a portfolio including EBI Track train detection systems and associated test tools, EBI Light signals, European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) products and EBI Gate Level crossings including the latest Enhanced User Worker crossings technology.


This Electronics Cell Engineer role is specifically responsible for shop support of a manufacturing cell producing electronics hardware for Bombardier products. They will be responsible for all engineering tasks for shop support activities, continuous improvement and maintenance of documents and the manufacturing process.


• Electronics engineering support to manufacturing cell for safety critical electronic products;

• Continuous Improvement of manufacturing cell for engineering tasks to improve time, cost and quality;

• Provide first line technical support of test systems used in the manufacture of safety critical electronic products;

• Provide first line technical support in fault finding of electronic components, products, systems and test systems;

• Ensure own work is completed and documented to time and to appropriate standards.



• HNC/HND/Degree in electrical / electronic engineering discipline.

Relevant experience required

• Experience of safety critical systems e.g. Rail industry, automotive, aerospace, defence, oil & gas etc.;

• Experience of the manufacture of electronic products in a Lean environment;

• Structured approach to fault finding for electronic components and products;

• Experience of Continuous Improvement for manufacturing, test and design of electronic components.

Technical skills

• Electronics components and systems;

• Electronics Test Systems;

• Production and control of manufacturing and customer drawings and documents;

• Excellent Microsoft office skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook);

• Knowledge or experience of CAD or electronic tool applications would be an advantage.
