Based in San Diego, California you will be responsible for training and development, scheduling, check rides and other related functions. You will be the Company’s designated Railroad Testing Officer pursuant to the conditions set forth in 49 CFR 217.9 and 49 CFR 240 and 242. You will also perform Trainmaster functions when you are not busy with Engineer related responsibilities.

In your role you will:

- Responsible for the overall supervision of all on board crew members. This includes job instruction, training, evaluation, accident investigation and when necessary, discipline.
- Responsible for scheduling of Engineers and Conductors during production season;
- Perform the functions of a Locomotive Engineer and Conductor as required;
- Administer the Company’s engineer training program, certify and/or re-certify all Locomotive Engineers and Conductors;
- Appropriately test and evaluate the knowledge and skills of Locomotive Engineers and Conductors in accordance with 49CFR 240 and 242;
- Analyze or assist in analyzing data from locomotive event recorders, both for post-accident investigations and for random reviews of individual engineer performance;
- Maintain Operations Department rule compliance through regular observations and tests;
- Maintain the Company’s program of operational tests and inspections as well as records of tests performed, the results of those tests and any associated required correspondence.

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate:

- You hold a Bachelor degree in Transportation or equivalent experience;
- You have from two (2) to five (5) years of experience in a similar position;
- You are proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Lotus Notes and Maximo;
- Your English communications skills, are excellent both written and spoken.
