Purpose of the job

The Head of Continuous Improvement is responsible for the definition of the site’s Continuous Improvement strategies and consistent planning of activities. He/She constantly challenges and enhances the site’s performance management and continuous improvement competences, develops the site into a learning organization by questioning the status quo and by rewarding innovation and positive change.

Has budgetary as well as personnel and disciplinary responsibility. The Head of Continuous Improvement ensures that CI is an inherent part of the site’s way of working that Performance Management on all levels ensures that committed budget and KPIs are achieved, that PDCA is applied and visualised and that the site’s BOS assessment target is reached. The cultural change is sustained by a strong and consistently applied team concept.

Key responsibilities

Coach and develop the continuous improvement team, to plan their activities on a week by week basis and to assist them in problem solving and change management techniques.

Support business process improvement and process design activities through assisting in identifying critical improvement opportunities, leading and facilitating Projects and Workshops, and coordinating activities to ensure the full and successful implementation of improvement actions.

Be a Change Agent, continuously searching for and facilitating the introduction of new and better ways to improve the performance of the organisation including the identification of best practice and its deployment.

Supported by the Continuous Improvement Manager, coordinate the development and roll-out of the Improvement Plan. This will include BOS, SCIP, BIT and the ongoing leadership training programmes (Team Leaders and Shift Leaders)

Co-ordinate the development and roll-out of the BOS plans. Together with site functions, define relevant KPIs and targets to measure and improve site performance.

Qualifications

Education

B Tech/ M Tech With Lean Black Belt Certified

Project and process management, BOS, SMB, Management by KPIs. Broad knowledge of Project Management, Finance and Supply Chain Management. Latest development of innovation and idea management.

Continuous Improvement as well as people and organisation development and change management expertise.

Recommended: min 6 months working experience in Production and 3 other functional areas.

Relevant experience required

Typically minimum 8-10 years of experience in a relevant role.

Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role
