In your role, you will

  • Adhere to General Work and Safety Requirements
  • Willing participant to both class room and On the Job training. (Aircraft Systems and Structure)
  • Assist with pre/post experimental test inspections as trained
  • Assist with maintenance on experimental aircraft.
  • Assist with aircraft ballast changes
  • Assist with installation of instrumentation, strain gauges, and accelerometers
  • Assist with aircraft towing, weighing, and related activities (Observer only)
  • Assist Mentor with release and recovery aircraft on taxi ramp
  • Assist with removal and re-installation of aircraft components, which obstruct the performance of assigned tasks
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and work areas to department and company standards

As our ideal candidate, you

  • are entering Junior or Senior year of high school, at least 16 years of age. Must have passing grades from the previous year of schooling (2.5 GPA or above). 
  • maintain regular attendance and are punctual. 
  • are able to work between 20 and 38 hours per week
  • are available for minimum of 6 weeks, possibility to extend, based on performance and initiative. 
  • complete on-the-job-training and any required reading in a timely manner.
  • possess basic computer skills necessary to perform job function. (Microsoft Office)

Limitations and Environment

  • Frequent exposure to general shop conditions and machine noise
  • Frequent exposure to seasonal weather. Job location may be in non-air conditioned or non-heated hangar or work area. 
  • Frequent periods requiring use of conventional hand tools, standing, lifting/lowering, carrying, pulling, pushing, climbing stairs and ladders, stooping, crouching, crawling, squatting, twisting and/or rotating back, neck or wrist, hand signals. Working on un-level or elevated surfaces, operation of computer terminal, working in awkward positions, and operation of vibrating tools and equipment. 
  • Frequent lifting periods up to 19 lbs. 
  • Occasional lifting of up to 49lbs and 50lbs or more with assistance
  • Regardless of work schedule, not allowed to exceed 1,300 hours worked in a calendar year
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
