About the role:

The Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategic action plans needed to achieve the organizational goals set by Senior management. The Manager co-ordinates the efforts of the organization with peer groups or with other organizations. The Manager is responsible for implementing processes and policies. The Manager is responsible for Teams located in Thailand, Germany, Sweden, or India. He is also responsible for the agile development of onboard signaling systems following the Scaled Agile Framework.

Key responsibilities

- Implementing the overall strategic direction by breaking it down into department/team strategic action plans. Monitor and follow up on productivity and department goals. Concentrate effort where it’s relevant and productive.
- Provides leadership and direction to the team leaders and staff of engineers within the department.
- Maintains close contact with staff on status of their work. Communicates and enforces the engineers’ responsibility for tracking their progress and adherence to deliverables and budgeted hours and cost through task planning. Develops action plans and coordinates resources to address and resolve problems as needed.
- Ensures that the engineering department is focused on meeting the financial, schedule and technical requirements of the projects they are responsible for.
- Ensures resource allocation for projects and bids.
- Responsible for performance management, salary reviews, career development, succession planning and recruitment.
- Monitors, develops and reports on the necessary competencies with the department.
- Develops the engineering department to achieve full potential and maximum contributions from the department. Creates and implements plans to improve employee skills, motivation and engagement.
- Monitor First-Line Manager performance, build and support leadership and management development. Develop an efficient and trustful management team climate.
- Optimizes communication and relationships with customers, stakeholders and other internal functions.
- Ensures adherence to engineering processes to provide high quality work that meets project schedules and expectations.
- Optimizes processes/tools/behaviours continuously by taking into account business requirements, customer needs, technical innovations, industry best practice, and new market conditions.
- Ensures that the different Onboard Industrial teams align in terms of processes, tools and work practices.
- Defines and manages the strategy for the department in close co-operation with the Engineering Strategy function.
- Drive change internally by communicating clearly and set clear expectations. Co-ordinate and support project execution
- Develop business cases in line with the overarching strategy and monitor the financial impacts for the department. Monitor and control compliance of processes and policies. - Communicating information, suggestions and advices in the departments’ field of expertise to the Senior Management.

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge

• Min Bachelors in

• Minimum 5 years of engineering leadership experience in similar field of work.

Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role

• Knowledge of engineering leadership.

• Responsible for growth and development of direct reports, including performance reviews, salary reviews and decisions, recruitment, discipline, termination and other personnel actions.

• Adapt plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.

• Directly manages one or more affiliated departments of professionals and supervisors.
