Rolling Stock Equipment is a new lean and efficient division and a strong partner to the Regions and Product Engines. We provide all internally produced and supplied components, which are all core technologies of BT: Bogies (complete portfolio for all vehicles); Propulsion and Controls (PPC) components; Traction Battery; TCMS (Train Control and Management Systems); Carbodies and Welded Subassemblies (CWS); Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS); Energy and Motion (pantographs, brake control, auxiliary converters)

We are looking to recruit a Train Control Management System Safety and Validation Engineer for our Rolling Stock Equipment team located in Crespin, France

YOUR ROLE
You will carry out validation and safety activities to ascertain required behaviour and performance of the TCMS release (Software and Hardware) compared to the corresponding requirements specification. Ensure that the behaviour and performance of the TCMS release complies with the requirements of the design project.

Examine and judge whether an TCMS release fits the user needs, especially in regards of safety, quality and operating environment. Ensure that the developed solution meets the requirements and is able to operate in the environment needed.

At system level, you will be responsible for preparing, developing, executing or supervising and documenting hardware and software integration and system testing. You will work within a project or product development or maintenance tasks.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop a safety and validation plan and specify the essential tasks and activities for safety and validation. Agree this plan with the independent TCMS assessor
• Carry out audits, inspections or reviews on the overall TCMS project
• Review the requirements against the intended environment/use and develop a system understanding of the system within the intended environment of application
• Review the TCMS release against the system requirements to ensure that all of these are fulfilled
• Review that developed solutions are traceable to the requirements and classify all deviations in terms of risk (impact). Submit the record to the body responsible for change management and decision making
• Carry out safety analysis on the proposed design, calculate tolerable hazard rates (THR), ensure fulfilment of safety application conditions
• Evaluate the conformity of the TCMS release against the requirements of the IEEE and EN standards (EN50657, EN50129, EN50126) .
• Evaluate final test results and give a recommendation on the suitability of the outcome for intended use and indicate any application constraints as appropriate.
• Give agreement/disagreement in the safety case and validation report to release the TCMS release (Software and Hardware)

Qualifications

• Specific knowledge in the areas of Product Safety and Validation;
• Having worked with independent assessors, accreditation bodies and authorization processes
• Vehicle/Train Control Management System functions knowledge is desirable
• Solid knowledge of SW testing, architecture, configuration and programming
• Experience in project work / project management
• Ability to work in international teams and environment ; fluent in French
