Description

Bombardier Transportation is a global engineering company that’s shaping the evolution of mobility. We have a rich heritage behind us, but it’s our innovative approach that puts us at the forefront of our industry. At the heart of everything are our employees and our suppliers, with whom mobility truly begins. Join us at our site in Crewe and take pride in working on quality, leading-edge projects that drive your career forward.

At Bombardier, we see trains as more than a mode of transport. Ours is a challenging, innovative, important industry, and we see trains as the future of eco-friendly travel; as outstanding examples of design; and as exceptional feats of engineering. They’re also highly complex projects that need brilliant people to bring them to life and keep them running smoothly.

YOUR TASKS:

Our Engineers across the world work to meet and set market trends. We ensure that we have the best products to exceed our customers and passenger’s expectations in terms of not only technical performance but also competitiveness.

At Crewe we have a world class overhaul facility which ensures customers are able to maintain their fleets efficiently, with an emphasis on quality and product safety.

By creating products and services that make the most intelligent use of energy and materials, we partner with our suppliers and meet our customers’ demands for more energy-efficient, cleaner emission–producing products with optimal safety, reliability, and passenger comfort as well as cost efficiency. Not just once but throughout the complete product life-cycle.

Joining a first placement in Product Safety & Reliability, you will initially complete a two-year intensive development programme. Alongside your contribution to the success of the team, the rotations in the business will encompass the entire engineering aspect of the Crewe Overhaul process.

The Product Safety and Reliability team is involved right from the start of the overhaul project at bid stage, through to supporting the product when it is in the field up to its withdrawal from service. Working closely with our vehicle and system engineers, suppliers and customers, we analyse and assess the overhaul process to ensure our product will be safe and reliable for both passengers and staff. After delivery, we continue to monitor our products, coordinating any modifications required that address safety and reliability concerns, and ensure they are carried out.

Bombardier Graduate Scheme is a 2-year programme aimed at bringing out the best out of the individual. You can expect to do placements across the various departments to gain a wider knowledge of the rail industry; including: project engineering, systems integration, materials engineering, test, human factors, fleet maintenance and many more. On the job learning is complemented by a modular and personal development programme. Supported by a mentor you will work towards gaining relevant chartered status with one of the engineering bodies such as the IMechE or IET.

Joining the team in Crewe will mean working on real assignments and gaining hands-on experience with responsibility from day one. You will have a chance to build a personal network within the wider business in order to develop overall business awareness, share best practice and foster cross functional working.

Qualifications

You will need a minimum 2:1 Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree, in one of the following domains: Automotive, Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from courses with product integration and system engineering content. A Bachelor or Master degree in Maths, Physics, Chemistry/Materials or a manufacturing discipline will be considered as well. Candidates must have excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for making things happen.

As part of the application process, you will need to answer a series of mandatory questions; please allocate a few minutes in going through them and answering, as they are the first shift out step.

If you have successfully completed your application, a follow up e-mail will come through in a few days, explaining in detail the next steps of the selection process (online test, phone interview, Assessment Center), together with approximate timelines for each.

We wish you the best of luck for all the steps and look forward to getting to know you!
