We are currently looking to recruit a Junior Buyer for our team in Derby, UK.

YOUR ROLE:

As a Junior Buyer you will support to procure through the use of professional purchasing practices and techniques and ensure parts/services/goods availability (PR / NPR)
while maintaining overall cost (and inventory, depending on allocation) at the lowest level and highest quality other responsibiliteis include maintaining daily contact with suppliers and ensuring supplier quality and On-time-delivery (OTD).

YOUR TASKS:

Manage purchase contracts for projects & operation within scope
• Prepare and issue request for quotation bid packages, identify suppliers, negotiate, place and manage purchase orders for
low volume assigned commodities and services
• Satisfy Division internal and external customers and protect project interests through proper and timely handling and/or
disposition of all relevant material requests
• Support order and claim management processes
• Provide report/statistics on commodities/vendors as required by management
• Fully utilize the current ERP-based production management computer system
• Assessing risk in the supply and align with Procurement Project Manager on acceptable level of risk of the project and take
it into consideration for the commercial negotiation with the supplier
• Leverage Management and BT Procurement capabilities when dealing with suppliers

Develop supplier ‘best in class’ performance
• Administrate purchase orders/subcontracts to maintain good supplier relations
• Develop supplier delivery programs

Manage material cost reduction activities
• Explore continuously material cost reduction opportunities

Develop and get exposure
• Develop professionalism by learning proper business practices, Procurement manual/computerized procedures and
processes affecting the procurement functions, and developing working knowledge of commodities and products
• Learn basic tools of other functions

Qualifications

• Entry level university graduate;
• Degree in Engineering, Commercial or Technical Field;
• Practice in business processes, communication (written and oral presentation skills) and drawing interpretation knowledge is essential;
• Basic knowledge on how purchasing function is operating is a must;
• Team player attitude;
• Analytical and negotiation skills required;
• Intermediate level in Microsoft Office Applications, E-mail application, Working knowledge in ERP systems, eProcurement tools, Web-Browser;
• English language at a proficient level is mandatory.
