We are always ready to speak to highly skilled and experienced people for our site in Derby, and, we are currently looking to recruit an Electrical Integration Engineer to join our Fleet Engineering team.

Role:

The Fleet Support Engineering Team is responsible for providing technical support and the upkeep of core data for Bombardier’s large and ever-increasing number of in-service fleets.

The primary purpose of this position is to develop Electrical installation/ wiring solutions and handle/ manage the upkeep of the affected core data, for supported fleets (comprising DEMU, DMU, EMU, METRO & LRV) under Bombardier’s Engineering Change process. You will be required to prepare modification design data, analyze, develop, test and demonstrate Electrical Engineering solutions that solve complex issues for vehicle installation requirements. Provide cost and schedule estimates on complicated engineering programs. Provide technical expertise in support of other disciplines.

Key Responsibilities and Challenges:

• Development of high quality, safe reliable and cost effective, electrical integration engineering solutions for BT UK supported in service fleets.

• Update and manage the electrical core data.

• Providing expert technical support for BT UK supported fleets. Provide ‘2nd’ line support for the resolution of in service issues.

• Representing BT engineering in meetings and technical discussions with suppliers, fleet staff and the client.

• Checking and approving technical data, drawings and reports produced by other members of team.

• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; supporting other staff members.

• Lead by example and promote Systems Engineering best practice. Mentor and provide support to engineers regarding modification integration.

• Strives to drive cross-team collaboration and lead by example in actions, delivery and behavior.

Qualifications

• HNC/D in relevant Electrical Engineering discipline preferred.

• Rail vehicle electrical engineering experience or similar is preferred (similar experience from other industries will be considered).

• Basic understanding of electrical systems engineering with ability to interpret technical data (e.g. Electrical schematics and wiring data).

• Knowledge and experience of integrating electrical systems into transportation systems or similar.

• Significant experience and hands on delivery in the design, analysis, development, testing and delivery of engineering solutions that solve complex requirements.

• The ability to manage multiple work streams and manage workload. Maintain individual plans and contribute to team planning activities.

• Knowledge of maintenance processes and procedures.

• Ability to cost and schedule estimates of proposed engineering solutions.

• Able to demonstrate the ability to use this technical knowledge in the support of other departments (engineering, services execution, operations, production, procurement, projects etc) and the development of less experienced engineering personnel.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

• Fluent English.
