About the role:Purpose of the job

The MBoM Engineer will be responsible for setting up Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBoM) for new projects, as well as maintaining and updating in a timely manner current projects using Bombardier’s ERP system (SAP). The role will require an understanding of how Master Data is handled in SAP, with special focus on maintaining the EBOM and MBOM alignment, as well as defining standard networks, reference points and routing processes with inputs from Planning, Purchasing, and Manufacturing.

Key responsibilities and challenges

1 Create and maintain material and Bill of Material structures based on input from Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, and Manufacturing as part of Engineering Change Process. Update existing BoM’s with new parts, deletions and quantity changes. (This will require knowledge of SAP transaction such as MM01, MM02, MM03, CS13, CC03, CC07, YPP_BOMSYN, etc.)

2 Identify BoM Structure problems early in the MBoM process to enable a timely cross-functional review and resolution. Ensure BoM queries are investigated and responded to in a timely manner.

3 Support BoM reporting to ensure transparency of MBoM status to all relevant stakeholders. (This will require a good level of knowledge of Microsoft Office tools)

4 Use data manipulation outside of SAP through BOM exports and using Microsoft excel to perform comparisons, using formulas such as VLOOKUP and analytical tools such as pivot tables

Support new process development and definition when required as part of internal continuous improvement workstreams.

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge

Ideally qualified to HNC/HND level with proven experience in an Engineering environment and SAP utilisation.

Knowledge of the Business

Engineering and manufacturing processes, tools, relevant KPI’ s, IT-systems, BOS & SMB, Supply Chain requirements.
Profound understanding of manufacturing engineering and all interfacing functions in a project. Kaizen moderation. Recommended: minimum 9 months working experience in Production and Engineering.

Purpose of the job

Develop the manufacturing bill of materials for individual build contracts, for material purchasing and the production of manufacturing documentation.
Liaise with Methods Engineering function in process development.

Define procurement packages and installation parts lists.
Link parts and structures into the ‘Manufacturing Bill of Materials’.

Create and control workbooks with Methods Engineering.
Update information in line with problem notifications.
Produce reports, statistics and key performance indicators to monitor the development of the bill of materials within Engineering and Methods..

Key responsibilities and challenges

1 Translate the engineering bill of materials using the manufacturing strategy into the manufacturing bill of materials, with a constant view of working efficiently and within lean parameters. 30 %

2 Creation of the manufacturing assembly books to enable Methods and Production to work efficiently. 30 %

3 Ongoing support to customers throughout the project's build life, including support to procurement and inventory answering questions regarding the manufacturing bill of materials. 15 %

4 Creation of KPIs for an effective view of the project's stability and forecast gaps in resourcing. 10 %

5 Ongoing changes implemented in the project's manufacturing bill of materials and assembly books.15
