We are currently looking to recruit a Procurement Project Manager for our site in Derby.


Procurement Project Managers are Senior Professionals, responsible for Procurement on high profile, high value rolling stock manufacturing projects.

In this position you are a vital member of the Project Core Team. The main role of the position is to manage all Procurement aspects of the project and be the interface between the project and our global procurement network. The ideal candidate will work very closely with our Engineering teams to receive designs and technical specifications; and our Operations team to meet the material schedule needs.

The Procurement Project Manager ensures the definition and successful execution of sourcing strategies, is responsible of managing suppliers’ commercial relationships, PO placements and material availability.

During the project launch the Procurement Project Manager sets the speed of the entire project. The role will bring rewarding satisfaction as you contribute to the building of rolling stock which will make a difference to the daily lives of millions.

Your Tasks

- Establish and proactively manage a clear, concise Procurement Plan for the project, gain alignment with all key stakeholders. And execute it!

- Manage interfaces between the project and the global Procurement departments, to ensure milestones are communicated, supported and achieved.

- Take responsibility for ensuring that Project needs relating to material cost, warranty, inventory and delivery performance are met. Often preparing information and presenting at senior levels within the business.

- Utilize appropriate tools and techniques effectively to ensure that Procurement delivers its cost and performance requirements. e.g. low-cost sourcing, open book costing, value engineering,

- Coordinate Requests for Quotations including commercial and technical requirements with buyers. Oversee and approve supplier selection decisions for your project(s)Oversees creation of supplier facing terms and conditions in accordance with the customer and BT’s requirements and needs. Support negotiations by buyers as required to gain the necessary outcome.

- Approve all spend on your project, tracking spends against allocated budget, build a savings pipeline to contribute to stringent BT financial targets and performance.

- Deal with escalated critical supply chain issues as an escalation point of contact, ensuring no adverse impact on project timescales and/or milestones as a result of supply chain issues

Conduct project close upon completion of manufacturing. Close any outstanding claims, inventories, systems, documentation and handover to service and maintenance division to facilitate successful operation of the fleet


· Languages: proficient English required

· University degree or equivalent through experience, complemented by a demonstrated track record of success

· MCIPS required

· Consistent experience in Procurement, preferably in railway industry

· Relevant experience in a managerial position

· Excellent contracting, legal & compliance knowledge

· Excellent negotiating / influencing skills with supply and internally with stakeholders

· Computer literate: MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

· Good problem-solving skills

· Able to work under pressure and provide status updates to senior management
