We are currently looking to recruit an Product Family Quality Manager

Location – Derby


 Represents Quality in the Product Family Core Team. In this role, the Product Family Quality Manager drives the cross functional Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) for all products and families within the Product Engine. They will also be responsible to assures that all processes related to the delivery of the product or system meet performance, quality and safety requirements of the relevant Eco-systems.

Key Responsibilities and Challenges:

• Manages the deployment of the Quality Strategy into the product family in order to achieve the expected results and the product family’s strategic goals. Provides feedback and input to improve the deployment and strategy.

• Enhances the product family’s technological risk management effectiveness by deploying APQP tools and methods (e.g. FMEA, Critical Item Assessment etc.)

• Reports on quality performance and quality related customer satisfaction as feedback from the related projects.

• Creates and maintains Quality Management reports (e.g. mandatory inputs for safety cases).

• Lead the Product Family Core Team in all quality related matters with customers, suppliers, and external parties if applicable

• Liaises with the following Quality organization of projects related to the product family, including the following sub-functions:

 Project Quality Assurance (PQA), Design Quality Assurance (DQA), Operations Quality Assurance (OQA), Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA), Integrated Management Systems (IMS)

• Assures the application of BT’s standard processes.

• Performs process audits at any organizational part of the Product Family.

• Agrees and monitors corrective action plans.

• Reports any non-performance of quality processes to the responsible Business Process Owner.


• Bachelor or higher degree in Engineering or proven relevant work experience.

• Profound knowledge and experience of quality standards and quality checks.

• Excellent knowledge of rail products and their acceptance criteria.

• Proven Continuous Improvement/ Lean experience, and influencing skills are essential, together with the ability to communicate effectively with senior managers across the spectrum of stakeholders.

• Profound knowledge and experience of Q6 standards and elements, especially feedback/ feed forward processes, quality gates, problem solving methods (8D ...)

• Knowledge and experience using problem solving methods for different complexity levels (Practical Problem Solving, 8D, Kepner Tregoe, Shainin, etc.)

• Strong knowledge of rail safety critical components.

• Very good customer facing experience and abilities.

• Strong leadership skills.

This role is a good fit for a proactive, hands-on person, with either exceptional quality experience and know-how or very strong engineering focus.
