About the role:

This role comprises the contractual and commercial support in various aspects of rolling stock or maintenance projects, all through the lifetime of the project, from bid to warranty. The PCM will provide advice and guidance on Commercial and Contract Management to the project teams during project execution.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Acting as the Wingman to the Project Manager; deliver of a professional commercial and contractual management service at all stages of the project execution lifecycle including being part of the approval process for financial commitment by the Project;

• Management of commercial and contractual relationships with customers, partners, and Return knowledge and representing commercial contract interest’s in future bids, as might typically be the case in service contract extensions

• Positively lead compliance with BT’s directives, guidelines, procedures and policies as regards commercial practice in Project Execution.

Qualifications

• Holding a degree as Quantity Surveyor (QS) or in either Engineering, Law or Business or a combination of these. Or a tertiary qualification and commercial / operational experience. Post graduate commercial qualifications are well regarded.

• Hands-on mentality, based on professional experience in Contract and Commercial Management in project execution, including diligent document control, reporting, drafting and preparation of claims and/or variations;

• Practical experience of developing business proposals with the focus on developing attractive and compelling commercial agreements, e.g. variation orders;

• Ability to build and maintain long-term customer and other stakeholder relationships;

• Experience to successfully plan and conduct commercial negotiations with customers, partners and suppliers, at both project and senior levels;

• Sound understanding of contract law; knowledge of business accounts, accounting practices, etc. is a plus;

• Experience of commercial contract management with clients in an engineering and/or technical services business;

• MS Office;

• Clear focus and strong drive for Results;

• Ability to drive risk & opportunity process and to deploy with success solutions which improve Project performance;

• Ability to identify the core issues and propose solutions, make decisions quickly and track on-going Action Plan status;

• Holding People Accountable;

• Ability to make timely decisions using best available data where context is unclear, giving appropriate validation
