We are looking to recruit a Simulation Coordinator for our Product Engine Rolling Stock team, to be located in Derby, United Kingdom.

Your role:

• As a Simulation Coordinator you will perform a diversity of modelling activities associated with the ‚‘Viruatual Bird‘‘ digital simulator intended to check at the earliest the Product Architecture design of the train within the Product Familiy.

• You will be in charge of integrating the models created and provided by the Modelling Engineers and you will perform the simulations accordingly to the Vehicle Architecture needs in consistency with the validation strategy of the Product Family, by following the process, methodology and rules defined by the BPO and Modelling Tool Key Users.

• By applying your knowledge and experience you will perform activities and task that aim the improvement and development of the ‘‘Virtual Bird‘‘ and the simulation activities within the Product Family,

Your responsibilities:

In the area of Set-up & Management, you will:

• Capture and specify modelling needs defined by the Product Family (Head of Vehicle Architecture, Chief Engineer, Project Development Manager).

• Define the needs of developing specific models according to the models re-use analysis done by the Head of CoE.

• Draw the Product Family development planning for validation by the Head of CoE.

• Manage and ensure a follow-up with the Modelling Engineers in the Product Family organization.

In the area of Model integration you will:

• Analyze the functional documentation (vehicle architecture, configuration diagram) to allocate functions.

• Set up a functional breakdown for both vehicles and train unit levels.

• Integrate the building-blocks models created by the Modelling Engineers together by using the Train Configurator and following the model integration methodology.

• Create vehicles and train unit graphical views.

• Verify the consistency of the new model created by performing simulations through both unitary test and integrated test, following the model validation methodology.

In the area of Simulation you will:

• Execute simulations for tests specifications and procedures based on automated tests scripts created by the Modelling Engineers.

• Perform all the simulations requested from the Product Family intended for its Functional Architecture or ROQ investigations.

• Generate test reports of performed simulations.

In the area of Model update you will:

• Use the Train Configurator database to create derivate models for other projects in the Product Family.

• Use systematically the models for non-regression analysis of the FCR.

• Manage the models update and change follow-up for his/her Product Family by applying the process defined by the Configuration and Change Key User.


•You possess a Master in Electrical/Electronic sciences, or Automation Degree required.

•You are experienced in engineering in the specific technical domain.

•You have a very good understanding of engineering processes and tools.

•You have gained experience on functional or sub-system design areas (railway desired).

•You have experience on the application of modelling, testing and simulation processes and procedures is desired.

• You have a visionary thinking and you are able able to implement strategy initiatives in your domain of expertise.

• You are able to understand the interface and impact with other technical domains.

• You possess excellent interpersonal skills, ability to lead a meeting internally and with suppliers, writing and synthesis ability, curiosity and constructive spirit.

• Language: English and local language.
