We are looking for a Systems and Communications Technician for our Oceanside, CA
area facility.

In your role as a Systems and
Communications Technician, you will:

Perform
monthly, quarterly and annual inspections, as well as periodic maintenance to
communication and train control systems. Assist in maintaining, updating
installing PC’s and all related equipment.

Responsibilities

·
Layout,
assemble, wire, install and assist in testing of railroad signal enclosures,
communications systems, wayside equipment and dispatching center control office
equipment.

·
Receive,
document, and store project material to ensure quality and safety standards are
met.

·
Pack,
document and ship material in support of maintenance, installation and
construction.

·
Assist
in inventory management to ensure accountability.

·
Occasional
travel to assist in wiring, installing and testing at field sites.

·
Available
for occasional overnight or weekend work.

·
Conduct
fault diagnosis; inspect, test, modify, maintain and repair signal and
communications equipment.

·
Inspect,
repair and maintain electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment
including grade crossing mechanisms, multiplexers, microprocessor, vital
relays, CCTV systems, cameras, monitors, fiber optic links, servers, standalone
PCs, power supplies, battery systems, variable message signs audio systems,
telephone systems, display systems and other complex machinery and equipment.

Operate
common, specialized tools and equipment such as, but not limited to mechanical
lift devices, support structures, and poles to perform inspection, maintenance
and repair tasks.

·
Record
and document maintenance and diagnostic data.

·
Determine
work priorities for emergency maintenance tasks in the absence of on-site
supervision; respond to emergency calls as necessary.

·
Operate
switch machines by hand and by Local Control Panels under revenue and
non-revenue conditions.

·
Plan,
schedule and coordinate activities and work with other trades and divisions;
assist other trades as necessary.

·
Flag
track-way to provide safe rail work zones; set up work-zone traffic control
areas.

·
Operate
assigned vehicles including Hi-Rail and Aerial Lift equipment.

·
Perform
snow and ice removal from Signal Equipment

·
Perform
other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications

· Must
be able to read and understand diagrams, parts lists, mechanical/electrical
drawings, and equipment layouts in regards to Signals utilized in the railroad
industry.

· Must
be familiar with the use of hand tools, volt-ohm meters, small power tools, and
mechanical, as well as, electrical tools utilized in the railroad signal
equipment.

·
Must
be able to operate forklift and aerial lift equipment.

·
Must
possess a valid driver's license to operate cars and regular work trucks.

·
Must
be computer and office machine literate, possess a working knowledge of
Windows, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and be able to operate fax machines
and printers.

· Must
possess documented experience and/or training in electronic or electrical
installation sufficient to perform the job in accordance to standards.

·
Must
demonstrate a Sense of urgency and follow-through.

·
Must
have the ability to multi-task effectively and work independently.

Physical Requirements

Job requires standing for more than half of each work day
with periodic breaks; lift/carry and push/pull equipment and other objects
weighing 25 lbs. (frequently), 50 lbs. (occasionally), and 75 lbs.
(infrequently); occasional climbing on ladders; bending, stooping, and
kneeling; good eye-hand coordination; and bilateral dexterity.

Please note that as per the RFP and our customer contract,
Bombardier will provide a priority in hiring to all applicants currently
employed with the contractors performing work for services on the Operations,
Maintenance of Equipment, Signals and Maintenance of Way for the COASTER and
SPRINTER commuter rail lines. Any other applicants that are not currently
employed as stated above will only be considered after this priority in hiring
is satisfied.
