Join us as a Break System Engineer (m/f/d) and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role in Hennigsdorf, Germany.

The primary purpose of the Break System Engineer role is to design, analyse, calculate, develop, test and demonstrate system engineering solutions that solve complex market and customer requirements. In addition to this, the person responsible will provide integration solutions and schedule estimates on complicated engineering programs, technical supplier management by leading technical negotiations and evaluation of tenders from system sub-suppliers and technical expertise in support of other departments and less experienced engineering personnel.

Responsibilities:

- Prepares and reviews technical requirement specifications, estimates efforts and schedules of the system deliverables, plans his/her own work, initiates and leads engineering concept design programs as well with sub-suppliers.

- Imparts technical expertise and experience to others, demonstrates a consistently high level of quality and personal integrity.

- Designs engineering systems and complex interfaces, gathers and analyses complicated technical data, solves system level design problems, performs system trade-off and coordination studies, creates novel design alternatives, develops reliability, safety and maintainability approaches, decides on optimum design approach.

- Ensuring the compliance with relevant technical requirements. Tests, demonstrates and documents system level designs, develops test procedures, leads design reviews internally and with customers.

- Responsible for successful system and vehicle homologation by interacting with external homologation bodies and authorities.

- Provides technical expertise in support of Customer Service, Life Cycle Costs, Program Management, Manufacturing, Field Start-up, Operations and Maintenance Manual production.

- Develops and delivers integration solutions and innovations which deliver a competitive advantage

- Performs performance analyses, evaluates and recommend systems, sub-systems and components and the associated supply chain technical solution.

- Understands interfaces and influences the design in relation to product and other systems. Supports work in normative committee.

Qualifications

- University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

- Solid work experience

- Strong communication and analytical skills

- Ability to work independently and in a structured way

- Experience in the area of rail industry and related normative framework is an asset

- Propulsion and train control management system understanding is desirable

- Basic understanding of vehicle system lifecycle and corresponding activities

- A broad knowledge and experience in System Integration and System Architecture

- Good experience with MS Office applications

- Solid written and spoken German and English language
