Obsolescence Engineer
We are currently looking to recruit an Obsolescence Engineer in our location in Hennigsdorf.
Purpose of the job
You will be the contact person for questions about discontinuations topics (obsolescence) during the repair, overhaul, and modernization of electrical vehicle components from existing fleets.
You will deal with obsolescence management (hard- / software), which is necessary for the life of the vehicles.
Your Key Accountabilities
• You are the point of contact for questions about obsolescence of components
• By optimizing the processes, you contribute to the growth of the spare parts business as well as the component overhaul with obsolete materials
• Support and improvement of the team in database maintenance for obsolete components (data analysis, supplier queries, master data maintenance)
• Ensuring the proactive identification, analysis, and processing of obsolescence cases in cooperation with purchasing, development, and sales
• Elaborate and evaluate solutions considering functional, production engineering and economic aspects
• Preparation and creation of systematic reports and scientific studies (feasibility and risk studies)
• Participation in working groups about obsolescence management
• Independent implementation in the areas of hardware and / or software development
Qualifications
Qualifications & Functional Knowledge
• Completed technical university education or several years of technical work experience
• Analytical skills as well as communication skills in a supra-regional environment
• Knowledge of electrical engineering or software development
• Product knowledge from the rail vehicle sector and system understanding of the entire vehicle are a decisive advantage
• Knowledge or experience of obsolescence management is desirable
• Strong evidence of customer led behavior and relationship building skills. Demonstrated understanding of the challenge of the market.
• Stakeholder management
• Fluent German, good written and spoken English
• Good knowledge of common MS Office applications
• Result and customer-oriented way of working, commitment, initiative, and curiosity
