About the role:

Purpose of the job

The FSE Central Line Retraction Project (CLRT) applies electrical and mechanical theory and knowledge to test, repair, and modify vehicles and equipment. The FSE CLRT Engineer shall conduct deep troubleshooting of systems and equipment to identify root cause of failures and integration and identify/define containment and/or a sustainable solution, with support of core product engineers. The FSE CLRT I Engineer shall analyse performance data from instrumentation and Bombardier tools such as Maximo & Orbita to promptly isolate source of issues and defects. The FSE CLRT Engineer shall ensure that safety is enforced in all steps leading toward solution and during execution.

Key responsibilities

Function or failure of operational equipment and recommends preventative and corrective maintenance, including associated documentation, and prepares specifications for materials, equipment components and processes. Analyses, develops, tests and demonstrates engineering solutions that solve complex requirements

To conduct investigation and data based analyses based on BT approved tools (e.g.: Maximo, Orbita) 40 %

Instructs and directs the customer’s technicians in maintenance and performance of systems. provides technical expertise is support of other departments and less experienced engineering personnel. 20 %

Develops technical solutions with the involvement of depot staff, customers and suppliers 20%

Manages technical investigations, fault finding, root cause analysis, design scrutiny and modifications. 10%

Assures that the vehicle level performance is achieved for the Project by proactive interaction with other functions. 10%


Qualifications & Functional Knowledge

Education & Experience
• Engineering degree
Relevant experience required (i.e. directly linked to the requirements of the position/role)
• Typically minimum 3-5 years relevant experience

Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role
• Rail Industry background would be an advantage – however, determination, focus and application are key•
