Description

Bombardier Transportation is a global engineering company that’s shaping the evolution of mobility. We have a rich heritage behind us, but it’s our innovative approach that puts us at the forefront of our industry. At the heart of everything are our employees and our suppliers, with whom mobility truly begins. Join us at one of our depots in London and/or our major site in Derby and take pride in working on quality, leading-edge projects that drive your career forward.

At Bombardier, we see trains as more than a mode of transport. Ours is a challenging, innovative, important industry, and we see trains as the future of eco-friendly travel; as outstanding examples of design; and as exceptional feats of engineering. They’re also highly complex projects that need brilliant people to bring them to life and keep them running smoothly.

YOUR TASKS:
Bombardier is a project orientated business. We deliver unique products and services to well-known customers with increasing complexity. Project Commercial Management (PCM) combines many different specialities and sits at the heart of project execution, contributing to the commercially and financially successful execution of our projects to satisfy our customers.

You will join a two-year intensive training programme with a series of placements around the business and within the PCM community, providing a firm foundation in the application of Commercial Management knowledge, skills, tool and techniques. Placements typically include: Joining the Commercial team in different projects (to better understand the various challenges associated to different types of projects and the stages of execution), Project Management (how we manage our contracts) and Financial (managing project costs). You will also be able to rotate between our Services business (mainly in London) and the Rolling Stock production (Derby).

Joining the team in London and/or Derby will mean working on real assignments and gaining hands-on experience with responsibility from day one.
As a Project Commercial Management Graduate, you will work across multiple projects to understand and implement high-profile contracts and how they are implemented in the railway industry. To do this, you will have regular contact with Bombardier’s customers where you will support the Project Commercial Manager on all commercial and contractual aspects. You will help implement high quality Obligations Management, ensuring that the Project Team understand their contractual obligations and deliver them on time. Through understanding the contracts, you will drive to identify opportunities which will improve the project scope such as potential variations whilst at the same time mitigating project risks. To keep track of commercial results and provide insight to the wider business, you will support with regular commercial reporting for example on active claims, variations, milestones and obligations.

Commercial Management is a fast-paced yet thoroughly rewarding function. You will have the opportunity to work with multiple functions, whilst being part of a tight-knit UK commercial team. You will also be provided with both a buddy and a mentor who will help and support you during the 2-year graduate scheme.
