The Methods Engineer perform activities to support manufacturing for a specific product with the adequate technical documentation and ongoing support, fosters Design for Manufacturing and standardization. He ensures that build documentation is available for all projects and efficiently managed and version controlled, responsive support of manufacturing is guaranteed at all times and committed budget and cost reduction targets are achieved.

The Methods Engineer scope is to manage the following:

Produce and correct the visual work instruction using standards of times and Health & Safety set by Bombardier Transportation (BT)

Read and analyze drawings and electrical harness assembly diagrams

-
Validate product conformity “As designed / As planned” including the manufacturability aspect

-
Create the MBOM (Manufacturing Bill Of Materiel) in SAP

-
Define and create tools to produce, test and transport sub-assemblies

-
Perform flattening in Catia of the harnesses 3D models

-
Extract and Perform MEDT work: electrical tools, pilot lengths, import form board dxf, release to production

-
Perform and conduct problem solving in order to solve various technical problems

Coordinate and integrate client requests and feedback from operational units and sites, internal and/or external

Participate in continuous improvement through AES (Achieving Excellence System)

Use different systems related to the execution of tasks such as CATIA, SAP, MEDT and others Bombardier Transportation tools

Perform time study

-
Select manual tooling and provide usage instruction

-
Manage table assembly with shop floor layout

-
Control and support pre-series manufacturing on-site production, in both make or buy situations

-
Ensures flawless Transfer of Manufacturing, Technology and Responsibility in case of change of move from make to buy or change of BT manufacturing site

Assure proper local presence of BT method engineers at supplier manufacturing sites for pre-series production phase

Key responsibilities:

-
Production Support: Be the interconnection between the functions of Engineering, Production, Quality and the Suppliers

-
Review & Validation: Review and produce documentation (BoM, Drawings, Work Instructions, Mounting Instructions) and ensure reproducibility of the Products and Processes

-
Design for Manufacturing: Develop, review and (present) improve new products and working methods compliant to RoQ standards

-
Quality Insurance: Ensure the delivery of all RoQ components in time, quality and costs

Safety: Perform as best example in terms of Health, Safety and Environment

Problem Solving: Ensure maximized results during design of installations in detail design phase; establishes priorities and originates new, uncharted approaches and solutions

Qualifications

Key requirements:

-
Educated in electrical engineering or equivalent technical training with a readiness in further development in mechanical engineering and design

-
At least 3-5 years of experience in a relevant role.

-
English, German fluently

-
Knowledge of Railways business, the commercial and political environment affecting the industry and also of direct competitors is an advantage

-
Deep understanding of how multiple functions contributing to achieving business objectives with focus operations (assembly)
