We are currently looking to recruit a System Engineer (m/w) in Mannheim


• Systems engineering is a key activity to the successful development of solutions that create high customer value and satisfaction while ensuring the consolidation of RCS’ sustainable portfolio of innovative and high-performance products.
• Systems Engineers act as the bridge between the users of the system (external or internal customers) and the developers (including HW and SW Designers, Testers and Validators).
• Systems Engineers have an interdisciplinary expertise in railway engineering. By using their extensive knowledge of the railway process, railway standards, ERTMS/ETCS technology, complete signaling systems, safety engineering, vehicles engineering and by working in close collaboration with the users, Systems Engineers strive to understand the users’ operational needs better than the users themselves. By combining this understanding with their know-how, Systems Engineers design and specify technical solutions that RCS can commit to develop successfully and deliver on schedule.
• Systems Engineers manage the real needs of the project and product stakeholders, including customers and end users with the responsibility to elicit, analyze, validate, specify, verify and manage the requirements.


• Identifying customer needs through close collaboration with the customer
• Elicit, analyze, validate, verify the system requirements
• Defining system requirements, definition of system context and interfaces
• Decide on system solutions and product selection
• Support for implementers, integrators, testers, validators (e.g. explain requirements, assess non-conformities) and homologation.
• Support of and definition for generic processes, generic requirements handling, product descriptions and tools (or tool chains) belonging to the product and also for the requirement management itself (i.e. DOORS).
• Tutorial support, support for training and knowledge transfer
• Lead of Engineering Work Package in Projects



• Expertise in railway signalling processes and solutions (both onboard and trackside components).
• Extensive knowledge of functionality and architecture of railway systems, especially ERTMS/ETCS.
• Extensive knowledge of how customers operate signalling systems and products and which operational and functional needs the systems shall satisfy.
• Understanding of railway vehicles and their interfaces to our onboard systems
• Facilitation - To lead requirement elicitation
• Good communication, negotiation and influencing skills
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment
• Organizational - To manage the vast array of information and cope with rapidly changing information
• Modeling of Requirements
