We are currently looking to recruit a System Engineer ATP & Third parties (m/f) in Mannheim, Germany.


• Determine the concept and function of the designed systems & incorporates cost-effective concepts into the vehicle. Also ensures that designs are completed on time meeting project schedules.

• Design of ATP, & third parties of a railway vehicle

• Definition and design of ATP concept and integration in rolling stock vehicles including diagnostic and safety functions

• Definition of vehicle functions including operational aspect related to all brake related functionalities (electric brake, blending, pass. Alarm, emergency brake etc..)

• Definition of interface between ATP and rolling stock (HW and SW interfaces)

• Integration of third parties like Passenger information system, Juridical recorder, Door control, ATP, Auxiliary 3phase loads, energy meter etc..(electrical schemes, HW and SW interface definitions)

• Analysis of norms, standards, safety regulations in all European and Overseas countries depending of the projects

• Support for homologation activities in all European and Overseas countries depending of the projects

• Support Verification & Validation activities (calculations, lab or vehicle tests)

• Interprets customer specifications & standards requirements to ensure that the design is compliant

• Field support (problem solving)

• Quickly solve technical issues coming from operation of the vehicles

• Product improvement support

• Understands and uses supplier design & manufacturing data to aid in development / improving of the design

• Find technical & innovative solution to improve vehicle availability, reliability and/or performances

• Re-use best practice to keep competitive product

• Integral part of the design team often making electrical design recommendations based on experience.

• Perform technical meetings, reviews (with other BT functions, suppliers and customers)

• Interfaces with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and outside suppliers as needed.

• Build good communication and networking within engineering team on site and of eng. Team in other European sites.

• Look forward to find possibility to introduce new technologies on the railway vehicles.

• Coordinates, tracks, and manages external design and drafting efforts. Mentors less experienced engineers, designers, and drafters.


• Electrical, Electronic engineering Master Degree. Other Engineering background can be considered if supported by a significant experience of electrical and electromechanical systems
• Knowledge in design and integration of electrical systems

Relevant experience required
• Working experience in rolling stock as system engineer for ATP or other systems. Brake system or function knowledge is a plus, but high potential starters with right education (no previous experience) will also be evaluated
• Basic Knowledge in design and integration of safety systems is recommended
• Knowledge in system design and integration

Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role
• Multi-disciplinary know-how and interest
• Systems Integration experience
• Railway business knowledge is a plus
