We are currently looking to recruit a Test Tool Developer (m/f/x)
in Mannheim, Germany, for our Rolling Stock Equipment (RoQ) Division

Your role

The RoQ organisation specialises in the design of bogies, bodyshell, TCMS (Train Control Management System), traction and braking systems, underframe equipment structural approval, service support, warranty support and electrical equipment.

The main purpose of the job is developing software for the TCMS Tools, that are globally used for development/testing/commissioning in all TCMS projects within Bombardier Transportation and customers.

Your Tasks

- Work as a member of a team to design, implement, enhance and maintain software and tools, supporting all use cases from lowest level testing up to functional vehicle testing of all E/E (Electric/Electronics) systems (TCMS, CTC and external subsystems)
- Analyse and transform specified requirements into detailed design solutions which have the required safety integrity level
- Ensure quality measures for the source code (design, peer reviews of code, static code analysis, unit/component tests) as well as developed solutions meets the requirements and can operate in the environment needed
- Write and maintain software documentation
- Support the users of the tool suite, analyse problems and solve them


- Diploma or master’s degree in computer science/computer engineering or similar, alternatively a comparable long and productive software development (coding) career.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in developing software
- Proficient in the following programming languages: LabVIEW, C/C++, C# and Python
- Several years of experience developing Windows applications in C# and WPF
- Experience with Windows and Linux applications development
- Profound knowledge using configuration management tools like IBM RTC, ClearCase, Git or comparable tools
- Specific DB skills in SQL and/or MySQL
- Previous experience in developing test or commissioning tools and developing software for embedded systems
- Advanced knowledge in one or more of the following areas: software development for real time systems, creating system/software requirement specifications, developing system simulations based on requirement specifications and/or interface control documents, creating test scripts and test reports.
- Extensive understanding and wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts and techniques in modern programming languages. Advanced knowledge of applicable industry and/or academic practices and standards in software design & development and Computer Science.
- Experience in working with local and remote teams is needed.
