Join us as a Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d) and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in Mannheim, Germany

As a Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d) you will be responsible to design, analyse, develop, test and demonstrate TCMS (Train Control Management System) system and software solutions that solve complex requirements and will provide cost and schedule estimation on complicated engineering programs. The Senior Software Engineer will also provide technical expertise in support of other departments and less experienced engineering personnel.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Review the technical specifications, estimate costs and schedules, initiate and lead TCMS system and software engineering programs;

• Mentor the less experienced engineers while requiring little personal supervision, impart technical expertise and experience to others, demonstrate a consistently high level of quality and personal integrity;

• Design TCMS systems, software and complex interfaces, gather and analyse complicated technical data, solve system and SW level design problems;

• Perform system and 3rd party component trade-off and coordination studies;

• Create novel design alternatives, develop reliability, safety and maintainability approaches, decide on optimum design approach.

• Test, demonstrate and document system and SW level designs, develop test procedure, lead design reviews internally and with customers, delegate works to subordinates.

• Provide technical expertise in support of Customer Service, Program Management, Manufacturing, Field Start-up, Operations and Maintenance Manual production.

• Generate engineering reports, financial reports, status reports, ECN’s, D-Specs., technical proposals, patent disclosures and technical papers for publication.

• Perform cost analyses, evaluate and recommend components, devices and sub-contractors.


Key requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Information Technology;

• At least 5 years of technical experience;

• Experienced in SW development with multiple low and high level programming;

• Languages: C/C++ required, IEC61131 appreciated;

• Experienced in real-time control and human machine interface devices;

• Experienced in Linux, preferable background in visualization development;

• Experienced in real time network connected control systems;

• Experienced in process simulation based testing;

• Experienced in project management and planning, program management appreciated;

• Fluency in English, German would be desirable.
