In line with the statutory rules and regulations governing data protection worldwide, the Data Privacy Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with global privacy and data protection laws, regulations and industry leading practices and will deal with data privacy issues relating to Bombardier worldwide.

Reporting to the Reporting to the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary located in Dorval, the Data Privacy Specialist will closely collaborate with various internal departments as well as management teams. As the primary global point of contact for questions pertaining to data privacy compliance, the Data Privacy Specialist will provide expert advice and training to a broad range of specialist teams including Legal, IS/IT and Human Resources.

Responsibilities

In your role, you will:

- Review and design, where needed, the data privacy strategy and policies of the Company, based on the Company’s operations and rules and regulations applicable to the organization worldwide.

- Oversee continuous adherence to the company’s data privacy policy, develop training programs and create awareness across the organization.

- Ensure compliance with applicable international and local data privacy laws, rules and regulations with the assistance and collaboration of Legal Services.
- Advise various internal business teams on data privacy requirements.
- Coordinate responses to privacy breaches, internal audit and external investigations in relation to same.
- Handle data subject access requests.
- Advise on maintenance of certain records of processing activities.
- Cooperate and interface with the various local data protection authorities.
- Perform activities related to privacy impact assessments & vendor due diligence.
- Measure and monitor the effectiveness of tools and processes to drive compliance and recommend improvements.
- Advise and support management in the definition and implementation of action plans pertaining to privacy.
- Manage other special projects on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate,

- You possess a Degree in a Business-related discipline e.g. Law, HR, IT etc.

- You possess at least 6 years of experience in a data privacy or compliance function role for a multinational company or in private practice with a reputable law firm.
- You have good knowledge of global data privacy laws, specifically including data privacy laws in Québec (Canada), the U.S. and GDPR.
- You are a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or have a similar certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) or other reputable professional association (or possess the relevant qualifications to become same and are willing to study towards such goal).
- You have experience with privacy breach incident response & privacy impact assessments.
- You can reconcile compliance requirements with practical business needs.
- You can work autonomously.
- You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in both French and English is essential.
- You can manage large projects as a proven team player with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- You possess sound knowledge of various IT applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- You possess experience in dealing with and processing confidential or sensitive data.
- You act as a role model promoting and adhering to data privacy rules and procedures.
- You are comfortable to work in a fast-changing environment with strict deadlines.
- You are available to travel occasionally if required.
