Join us as a Senior RAMS Engineer and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

As a Senior RAMs Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and performing project RAM Analysis, Safety Analysis and Human Factors Analysis, ensuring that the train control signaling system being delivered meets the applicable reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS) and Human Factors (HF) requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Work with fellow engineering and project management to plan, coordinate and execute all RAMS and Human Factors work required to deliver a train control signaling system.

- Coordinate, perform and execute all tasks required to achieve the project RAM and Human Factors milestones: Project RAM Plan, HF Plan, reliability prediction analysis, maintainability analysis, human factor analysis.

- Coordinate, perform and execute all tasks required to achieve the project Safety milestones: Project Safety Plan, safety analyses and relevant documentation (PHA, OSHA, FTA, FMECA, SHA, SSHA, Hazard Log and project Safety Cases).

- Work with project teams to provide independent feedback to ensure that the system satisfies project and regulatory RAMS and HF requirements.

- Perform project RAMS and HF activities in compliance with internal company processes and applicable standards.

- Participate as an integral member of project and bid team by convening and attending meetings and planning sessions.

- Serve as an advocate for RAMS and Human Factors considerations on the project as issues arise.

- Review and approve the system and subsystem implementation to ensure RAMS requirements are fulfilled.

- Prepare for and participate in Project Design Reviews and required Gate Reviews.

- Attendance at Failure Review Board (FRB) meetings and participate in the review of root cause analysis findings.

- Plan, coordinate, monitor and report on RAMS and HF activities in line with project and organizational objectives

- Maintain RAMS and HF Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and activity tracking in order to visually convey status of system operational performance against established project and organizational requirements.

- Mentor engineers while requiring little personal supervision, provide technical expertise and experience to others, demonstrate a consistently high level of quality and personal integrity.

- Exhibit excellent understanding of safety and RAMS concepts and procedures within RAMS Engineering, good knowledge of development of safety critical integrated systems, and entire system development lifecycle.


Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

6+ years of experience in RAM engineering or safety analysis working with international RAMS standards and hazard identification and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with railway signaling systems.

Experience in project engineering or management.

Experience with CENELEC standards for railways, IEEE, AREMA, MIL-STD, and IEC/ISO standards and regulations.

Experience with FTA, FMEA, PHA, SHA, SSHA, IHA, OSHA.

Experience utilizing DOORS.

Experience with Configuration Management and Version Control Tools.
