The Director, Human Resources is responsible for providing
leadership and support for the Toronto and US Operations Human Resources team.
Leads the Human Resources team and acts as senior HR business partner on a wide
range of HR activities including, but not limited to employee and labour relations,
talent development and retention, coaching and disability claim management.
Participates as a member of the Toronto site leadership team.

In your role, you will:

- Be responsible to lead a team of Human Resources professionals in Toronto (Canada) and the US.

- Advise and coach to the leadership team, with a focus on Human Resources, Employee and Labour relations, talent development and retention, coaching and disability claim management

- Develop/implement HR practices/procedures/KPI’s to support business objectives and strategies.

- Lead change management initiatives in support of the strategic business plan.

- Maintain good relations with Toronto site and US unions and negotiate and renew collective agreements.

- Implement top talent strategy thorough succession planning activities that includes talent development and career growth.

- Continue to expand organizational effectiveness strategies to include employee retention, engagement, recognition and mobilization.

- Lead and implement HR strategies in support of the move to Pearson.

- Be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant Government and company regulations, policies and procedures.


As our ideal candidate,

- You have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations or a related discipline. A master's degree in a pertinent discipline would be an asset.

- You have at least 15 years of experience as a Human Resources professional, ideally in a unionized manufacturing environment and with a similar clientele. You have a minimum of 10 years of management experience.

- You have strong supervisory and leadership skills.

- You are able to deal and resolved complex problems and situations

- You are able to question the status quo and demonstrate initiative, creativity and proactivity to ensure the evolution of the HR services.

- You have demonstrated the ability of playing an advisor role and displayed your leadership, your capacity to navigate in grey areas and your ability to adapt to changing and unforeseen priorities

- You have strong interpersonal skills and are a team builder.

- You are professional, organized, disciplined and strong attention to detail.

- You can work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, concurrent priorities many needing immediate resolution

Additional details:

- Minimal travel required.

- French language knowledge an asset.

- This role is based in Toronto, Canada.
