For our Product Line Light Rail Vehicles (LRV) located in Vienna we are looking to recruit a flexible and motivated Head of Vehicle Performance and Safety - Flexity (m/w/d). The purpose of the job is to manage the Product Safety and Reliability staff within a certain organizational part/structure of Bombardier Transportation (BT).

Key responsibilities

Manage staff:
• Develop the team to achieve full potential and maximum contributions from the team
• Create and implement plans to improve employee skills, motivation and engagement
• Management and development of skills needed to achieve BT aims (workforce planning, performance management, career development, succession planning and recruitment)
• Successfully resolve staff and work-related conflicts
Manage budget:
• Plan budget
• Ensure that needed budget is available and allocated to team members
• Ensure that staff work meets budget requirements
• Regularly review budget performance
• Follow and provide budget and resource-related KPIs
Project, product family and other Product Safety and Reliability activities:
• Ensure that activities, managed by staff under his/her responsibility, are managed according to BT requirements and objectives. This includes also the management of incidents and accidents (Product Safety side)
• Perform particular project-related and product family-related activities
• Be a party in BT's document approval process
• Ensure that relevant peer reviews for Product Safety and Reliability Deliverables are being performed
Product Safety Management System (SMS) and Reliability - related activities:
• Ensure the appropriate application of the SMS and the Reliability framework by the staff under his/her responsibility
• Ensure that improvement feedback is given to and taken into account by the SMS and Reliability responsible staff
• Participate in the continual improvement of the SMS and the Reliability framework
Provide necessary reporting associated with the role


• A university degree (B.Sc., M.Sc. or equivalent), or an equivalent working experience.
• 5-10 years of working experience
• Proven record of relevant safety and/or reliability experience;
• 3-5 years of working experience in project assignments;
• Knowledge of and experience with EN5012x, ISO TS 22163, ISO 9001;
• Knowledge of and experience with further relevant standards and legislation is beneficial;
• Understands commonly used safety/risk and reliability assessment techniques and approaches (FTA, risk matrix, FME(C)A, etc.);
• Background knowledge in any particular engineering area (e.g. brakes, etc.) is beneficial;
• Language: fluent in English

The minimum salary for this position is 3051,49 € gross / month (14 x) for full-time employment according to the collective bargaining agreement. Overpayment depends on relevant work experience and qualifications.
