The Vehicle Performance Engineer would ideally have experience in the three following roles:

As an Eco Design Engineer coordinates and completes environmental work in projects and for Bombardier products. The tasks involved include interpretation of environmental legislation, evaluation of materials and products to ensure compliance to relevant legislation, including Bombardier and customer requirements, completion of material inventories, participate in external environmental networks, and promote the environmental performance of Bombardier's products.

The role of a Fire Safety Engineer is a life safety critical discipline mainly concentrating on the properties and fire performance of the construction and materials that form a rail vehicle. The engineer will be responsible for the overall vehicle fire safety design, which includes, but is not limited to, detection and alarm / warning systems, manual or automatic fire suppression systems, emergency lighting systems, means of escape and egress provisions, escape route or exit door widths, places of safety and occupancy levels.

The Human Factors Engineer is responsible to create the best customer and passenger value in terms of ergonomic product design for railway vehicles. This includes leadership on ergonomic human-friendly design and on the implementation of all ergonomic properties throughout the product life cycle.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Definition of the Fire Safety requirements based on contracts, norms and legislation for a specific railway rolling stock project.
• Breakdown and allocate the Fire Safety requirements to railway vehicle sub-systems.
• Elaborate Fire Safety concept and ensure implementation (e.g. running capability in case of fire).
• Review sub-system suppliers’ documentation
• Identify fire safety risk through detail concept and design reviews; develop and implement mitigation measures
• Calculate fire load for a complete railway vehicle
• Conduct Fire Safety training.
• Leading the optimisation of ergonomic product features to create customer value and compliance with legal requirements
• Working interactively with other engineering functions e.g. industrial design to develop safe working environments, solutions with a high usability and a universal design for a wide range of passenger groups including persons with reduced mobility
• Managing the ergonomic work process in multi-site projects and international teams

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent
• Knowledge about standards and norms within the Fire Safety area, e.g. EN45545
• Knowledge of material properties and recyclability in a life cycle perspective
• Good communication skills and ability to convince people
• Competency in accurate and structured work
• Fluent in German and English incl. good communication skills

The minimum salary for this position, according to the collective agreement, is € 3133,87 gross / month based on full-time employment (14 times a year). An overpayment is possible depending on relevant work experience and / or qualification.
