We are seeking applications from experienced Rotables/Repairs Officer to join our team in West Melbourne.

The role of the Repairables / Rotables Officer – is to provide support for the maintenance of the VCLAS/VLOCITY Fleet in the areas of Planning and Logistics. They are to help to ensure that the fleet complies with the maintenance plans/ company directives. They are to assist in the continual improvement of the performance of the Classic Fleet and the Service department as a whole.

Your key responsibilities will include the following:

- Procurement of associated materials and services for the repair of repairable & rotable items for the project fleet across all maintenance sites.
- Request quotations and raise associated purchase orders for the repair of repairable & rotable items
- Liaise with various OEM’s in the reliability of, and the equipment used to maintain, rolling-stock. As well as play a pivotal role in the pursuit of sustainable reliability improvements identified as part of the overhaul/major works process, working with the various supporting factions within the maintenance teams.
- Carry out audits ensuring fleet asset numbers match Maximo
- Ensure that suppliers conform to the Repair Purchase Order Terms & Conditions
- Account for warranty claims on purchased items as required
- Receiving, storage of repaired parts
- Perform quality checks on inwards goods from repairers
- Updating and monitoring of Non-Conformance Database to verify and implement corrective actions to problems, and control further processing of non-conformance’s until disposition has been made.
- Provide advice on, and monitor obsolescence items as well as being able carry out technical and statistical investigations with regard to quality improvement, provide technical reports and investigations of failures and make overhaul / Major Works /maintenance recommendations based on reports.
- Work alongside engineering to identify issues within the overhaul / Major Works process and implement process and quality improvements to reduce availability impact on the fleet.
- Co-ordinate spares required for accident damage when repaired within the project and assist others when repairs are carried out
- Provide support in the procurement of “difficult to source” items
- Advise and Co-ordinate rotable activities through the Overhauls / Major Works functions
- Work with maintenance teams at a variety of locations to undertake necessary tasks.
- As directed by the Service Supply Co-coordinator.
- Support and develop procedures around the repairable / rotable process.

Multi skilled position – some responsibilities are interchangeable with other Stores staff.

- Determine source and availability of rotables/direct goods, negotiate price, timing, terms and conditions with prospective vendors to gain maximum benefit to the business ensuring all relevant technical, quality and commercial conditions are covered.
- Responsible for the management of purchase orders/contracts for direct and non-inventory goods in relation to all contractual requirements including database update, creating and generating new stock codes, correspondence, extension of time, variation requirements, change management, expediting and time schedules.
- Evaluate quotations, recommend suppliers and gain approvals ensuring Bombardier’s best interests are a priority.
- Process all formally approved rotables/direct goods purchase orders and check for correctness and accuracy before issue.
- Manage and resolve any discrepancies arising from purchase orders.
- Follow up suppliers to achieve scheduled delivery dates in accordance with Material Requirements Plan (MRP) and/or as advised by Production Planning.
- Expedite outstanding orders and ensure back orders status is updated and communicated to the Supervisor.
- Report progress on prime orders and raise concerns with Supervisor weekly or as required.
- Utilise available resources and procedures to ensure purchase orders are administered in the most productive and cost effective manner.
- Ensure purchasing activities are undertaken in an ethical manner and in line with Standard Practice and Procedures.
- Ensure non-conforming products or services are recorded following company procedures, analysed and implement necessary actions to prevent recurrence of quality issues, in a timely manner.
- Maintain computerised systems to record details of purchases to support and improve service delivery.
- Manage the warehousing of delivered rotables/direct goods including the placement of applicable labels, storage to respective shelving and includes continuous stock holding checks.
- Scheduling, prioritising goods receiving from local and overseas suppliers for all deliveries, reporting and communicating damages, short shipments and oversupply.
- Take a lead role with stock taking and cyclic counts and report status as required.
- General Store (including tool store) duties and assistance with other warehouse functions is expected and as directed.

Qualifications

It is expected you will have the following qualifications, experience and personal characteristics:

- A tertiary qualified person (engineering/ business/Logistics purchasing/materials management) or technically experienced (Electrical or Mechanical discipline) with rail industry experience
- Computer Literate in MS Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Access)
- Working knowledge of Baan MRP system or Maximo CMMS (Highly regarded but not essential)
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role in a parts and accessories/stores environment.
- Sound understanding of warehousing processes, inventory management procedures and documentation requirements.
- Problem solving skills and the ability to work autonomously
- Positive and proactive attitude with a very strong customer service focus with internal and external stakeholders.
- Team spirited and dedicated to building productive relationships with the ability to influence and communicate on all levels.
- Ability to organise and prioritise tasks, be proactive and professional in a manner, with a high degree of initiative, demonstrate interpersonal skills and perform / contribute within a team environment.
- The candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment medical test as well as ongoing rail safety medical as required.
