Cookie Policy

Last revision: July 2023

Bombardier Inc. and all its business segments, divisions and subsidiaries (“Bombardier”, “we” or “our”), use cookies to record your internet settings and browsing preferences, which allows us to optimise the design of our websites and improve your online experience. We may also use third party cookies for third party advertising, social plugins or analyzing traffic on our websites.

Bombardier adheres to the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada’s (DAAC) and the Digital Advertising Alliance’s (DAA) interest-based advertising principles. This Cookie Policy aims to provide you with an enhanced notice, transparency and control of our digital marketing practices as stated at https://youradchoices.ca and https://digitaladvertisingalliance.org/

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small files that are placed on your device when you visit a website.  They allow the website to remember certain pieces of information about you, like your preferences (e.g. language or location) and your browsing behavior (e.g. the webpages you visit). This information allows the website to recognize your device and remember your preferences when you return to the website from the same device and web browser. It is also used for web analytics.

2. What are session and persistent cookies?

We use both session cookies and persistent cookies. We use session cookies to make it easier for you to navigate the Career and Recruitment website. A session cookie expires when you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. You can remove persistent cookies by changing your browser settings.

3. What types of cookies do we use?

We divide cookies into three categories, depending on their function and intended purpose: necessary cookies, preferences cookies, and statistics/marketing cookies.

You can find a list of active cookies in the Cookie Consent Manager; the link can be found at the bottom of the page.

Necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for our websites to function. Without these cookies, you would not be able to navigate our websites or operate their basic functions.

Preferences cookies

These cookies store information that you have already entered, such as your language selection and your location, in order for your experience to feel more personalized when you return to our website. These cookies collect anonymous information and cannot track your movements on other websites.

Statistics and Marketing cookies

These cookies register your activity on our website. To show you relevant personalized advertising on other sites such as Google and Bing, we use Google Tag Manager. We may allow a limited number of trusted third-party advertising partners to install cookies to build a profile of your interests based on information about you, such as your page views on our website or your information requests. These cookies are also used to limit the display frequency of advertisements and to measure and control the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns.

Our website may include links to other websites and social plugins. Social plugins are buttons that let you share your experiences on our websites with other people on social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube). When you share your experiences through social plugins, social media platforms install their own cookies on your device.

We use Google Analytics to collect, analyse, measure, and report data from these cookies to understand our web traffic and page views in order to improve the performance of our websites and your user experience. For example, the cookies record which browser and operating system you used, which parts of the websites you visited, your number of visits, and the average duration of your visits. They do not collect information that would allow us to identify you. The collected information is aggregated and, therefore, remains anonymous.

LinkedIn: If you apply for a job via your LinkedIn profile, LinkedIn will install a third-party cookie on the Career and Recruitment site. LinkedIn’s policies are governed by their Privacy Policy

Statistics and Marketing cookies do not store information about you, but they uniquely identify your browser and device. Together with other information about you collected by our advertising partners or social media companies, your browser and device information could be used by third parties to identify you.

4. How can you manage your cookie preferences?

We automatically set necessary cookies in order for our website to work correctly.

Preferences and statistics/marketing cookies are only set with your consent; by default, these cookies will be switched off. If you would like to set any of these types of cookies, you can do so by selecting the relevant toggle switch buttons in the Cookie Consent Manager, the link can be found at the bottom of the page.  You can revise your selection at any time in the Cookie Consent Manager.

5. Do we use Google Analytics?

Bombardier uses Google Analytics to view key metrics. Google Analytics provides us with aggregated data such as how many visitors view our Website, peak hours of traffic, duration and frequency of visits, pages visited and key words searches. Google Analytics is Google’s analytical tool that helps us to understand how you engage with our Website. Data collected includes your Internet Protocol address, geographic location, browser information, device identifiers, what Websites you visited before and after your visit.

You can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity. For more information on the privacy practices of Google, please visit the Google Privacy & Terms web page.

6. Do we conduct interest-based advertising?

Yes, we use targeting cookies as part of our marketing strategy. This is called interest-based advertising as it allows us to follow you online and with the help of partners, provide you with relevant advertising. In other words, interest-based advertising is targeted advertising or behavioral advertising. The ads that are being served to you are personalized based on your behavior while browsing online.

Interest-based advertising is done by using marketing cookies. You can opt out of interest-based advertising by opting out of marketing cookies. You can manage in the Cookie Consent Manager; the link is found at the bottom of the page.

You can also use WebChoices which is a browser-based tool for opting out of interest-based advertising. Mobile users can also download the DAA Choice App in the Apple App Store or Google PlayStore. AdChoices provides additional solutions and explanations to control block and control cookies, as well as plug-ins to retain opt-out cookie preferences, even if you delete your cookies.
