Welcome to Bombardier’s Careers and Recruitment Site (the “Site”). If you are thinking about a career at Bombardier, our Careers and Recruitment Site holds all relevant opportunities available, including job opportunities, internships, new graduate programs and various recruitment events.

As part of its recruitment process, Bombardier Inc. and its groups, divisions, subsidiaries, and affiliates ("Bombardier") collect and process your personal data. Bombardier is committed to conducting business in a way that complies with applicable data protection laws and regulations in every country in which Bombardier operates.

This Privacy Statement provides you with the information that you need to understand how we process and secure your personal data when you use the Site. It applies to the personal data we collect through our online interactions, such as when you visit our Careers and Recruitment Site, our recruitment portal, when you interact with us on our social media sites, or when you register to an event; as well as our offline interactions, such as when you attend our in-person recruitment events (collectively, our “Services”).

For your information and convenience, our Careers and Recruitment Site may contain links to other websites or apps run by other organizations, which we do not control. This Privacy Statement does not apply to these third-party websites and apps. Please read their privacy policies to stay informed of how they collect and process your personal data.

Our Services such as the Internship program, may be targeted to individuals younger than 16 years old.  Bombardier does not willingly collect personal data from minors under 16 years old unless they are active participants in one of our internship programs. In this case, Bombardier requires the consent of a parent or a legal guardian before collecting and processing the young individual’s personal data.

Bombardier adheres to the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada’s (DAAC) and the Digital Advertising Alliance’s (DAA) interest-based advertising principles. This Privacy Statement, as well as the Cookie Policy, provide you with an enhanced notice, transparency and control of our digital marketing practices as stated at https://youradchoices.ca and https://digitaladvertisingalliance.org/.

1. What personal data do we collect about you?

The personal data we collect depends on the ways in which you interact with Bombardier and the Careers and Recruitment Site, and may include the following:

  • Your name, address and contact details, including email address, telephone number, and other similar contact information.
  • Passwords, password hints, answers to security questions, and similar credentials used for authentication and account access.
  • Your age, country, spoken languages, education, employment history, resume, qualifications related to the posting and similar recruitment information.
  • Your location, including the location derived from your IP address.
  • Data about your device (including device identifiers) and how you and your device interact with our Sites.
  • If you apply for a position located in the United States, Bombardier is legally required to ask you information on your ethnicity, race, gender, disability, veteran status. You can accept or refuse to provide Bombardier with this information.
  • Photographs or security camera images if you enter a Bombardier facility or attend a Bombardier event.
  • Other information you provide to us and the content of messages you send to us when you submit feedback, or when you make inquiries, request services, contact us for support or account information changes.

We use necessary, preferences and statistics/marketing cookies as part of our Career and Recruitment Site. These cookies are installed by us and by third-parties. We install necessary cookies based on our legitimate interests, as they are required for us to provide you with the Services. However, we only install preferences and statistics/marketing cookies based on your express consent.  We use marketing cookies to conduct interest-based advertising.

2. How do we collect your personal data?

Bombardier collects your personal data from you, from third-parties and through cookies.

  • Data obtained from you: You provide personal data directly to us when you create an account on our recruitment platform, you apply for a job, internship and/or graduate program opportunity, you participate in one of our career events, interact with us on social media and contact us.
  • Data obtained from third-parties: We may obtain personal data about you from third-parties, including recruitment agencies, social media or through our referral program.
  • Data obtained through cookies: We also collect personal data about you by using cookies to record how you interact with our Services. You can also opt in or out of certain cookies, please select your Cookie Preferences by visiting our Cookie Consent Manager at the bottom of the page.

3. Why do we collect your personal data and what are our lawful bases for processing it?

Bombardier’s Career and Recruitment services process your personal data for different purposes, during and after the end of your relationship with us. These purposes include:

  • Providing you the Career and Recruitment services and offline recruitment interactions.
  • Managing the recruitment process at Bombardier, including identifying potential candidates, evaluating candidate credentials and experience, and communicating with you.
  • Informing you of other similar employment opportunities at Bombardier.
  • Enabling or administering our business, including administering online accounts, responding to inquiries, and monitoring quality assurance.
  • Understanding and improving our business or customer relationship with a view to improving our services.
  • With your consent, sending you promotional emails and other communications.
  • Serving you targeted advertising through third-party sites and/or platforms. For more information on how we use your personal data to advertise to you, please see the “Do you conduct interest-based advertising (IBA)” section below.
  • Protecting you, us, or others from threats, such as security threats or fraud.
  • As a legal requirement from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (for jobs located in the United-States only).

We will only use your personal data where we have lawful bases for doing so. Lawful bases include, among others, each one of the following:

  • Consent (where you have given consent or it is implied in some circumstances).
  • Legal obligation (where using your personal data is necessary for compliance with laws that apply to us).
  • Legitimate interests (where we have legitimate interests and they do not outweigh your privacy rights).

4. Do you conduct interest-based advertising (IBA)?

Yes, we use marketing cookies as part of our marketing strategy. This is called interest-based advertising as it allows us to follow you online and with the help of partners, provide you with relevant advertising. In other words, interest-based advertising is targeted advertising or behavioral advertising. The ads that are being served to you are personalized based on your behavior while browsing online.

Bombardier has adopted an opt-in approach to conducting interest-based advertising. Thus, Bombardier will not conduct interest-based advertising unless you actively opt-in to our use of this type of cookie.

You can also use WebChoices which is a browser-based tool for opting out of interest-based advertising. Mobile users can also download the DAA Choice App in the Apple App Store or Google PlayStore. AdChoices provides additional solutions and explanations to control block and control cookies, as well as plug-ins to retain opt-out cookie preferences, even if you delete your cookies.

5. Where do we store your personal data?

Bombardier stores your personal data on servers located in Germany. Your personal data is also processed by our service provider SAP SuccessFactors. SAP Success Factors stores your personal data in datacenters located in Germany. Some other service providers may store your personal data internationally, including in the United States.

6. How do we safeguard your personal data?

Bombardier has implemented reasonable physical, technological, and administrative security safeguards to protect the personal data it collects, processes and handles against loss or theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.

For example, Bombardier establishes written agreements with its sub-processors which requires a duty of confidentiality and the implementation of appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure the security of the personal data they process on our behalf. Also, Bombardier employees and contractual resources abide by a strict Code of Conduct.

Keep in mind the Internet is not entirely safe. It’s your responsibility to keep your credentials secure and ensure that you are connected on safe network connections.

7. With whom do we share your personal data?

Let’s be clear, we do not sell your personal data to data brokers. We will not disclose, trade, rent, sell, or otherwise transfer your personal data without your consent, except as set out in this Privacy Statement.

We disclose your personal data as part of our Services, such as to recruitment partners, to our service providers including our marketing partners.

  • Third Party Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to perform some of the Services on our behalf. For instance, we use SAP Success Factors as a platform to manage our recruitment process and to offer you the job application platform. You can consult SAP Success Factor’s Privacy Statement here.

Here are the various types of service providers with whom we share your personal data:

  • data aggregation and analytics software services that enable us to effectively monitor and optimize the delivery of our Services and provide useful reporting;
  • e-mail management and distribution tools, as well as customer relationship management software;
  • security and fraud prevention, such as to identify automated software agents that might disrupt our Services;
  • marketing partners, such as media placement agencies, social media platforms.

In the event of change of ownership, sale, merger, liquidation, reorganization, acquisition of Bombardier in whole or in part, or in the event of any other business transactions or bankruptcy, your personal data may be transferred as part of the transaction. We may also share your personal data with our affiliates and subsidiaries as required to deliver the Services effectively, such as through shared services.

We may also have to share your personal data with law enforcement and other governmental entities - but we will only do so after we ensured that the request is valid, and legal. We will no share more than necessary to comply, and if we can, we will let you know before doing so.

8. How long do we retain your personal data

Bombardier retains your personal data for as long as it is necessary to provide you with our Services or for a longer period if required under applicable laws.

9. What are your rights concerning your personal data?

You have rights concerning your personal data. These rights may change depending on where you are located in the world. These rights generally include the right to access and correct your personal data, as well as the right to withdraw your consent.  Some jurisdictions offer additional rights, such as the right to object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability and the right to restrict the processing of your personal data.

  • Accessing your personal data. You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correcting and updating your personal data. You can ask us to correct or update your personal data at any time if you discover that any of it is inaccurate or out of date.
  • Erasing your personal data. You can require Bombardier to erase personal data in certain circumstances and we will take reasonable steps to inform other controllers that are processing the data that you have requested the erasure of any links to, copies or replication of the data. Your personal data will be removed from Bombardier systems within a reasonable time and will be deleted. However, Bombardier may retain a copy of your personal data (i) if and as long as required by law, regulation, administrative or court order or for internal auditing purposes, or (ii) as electronic data stored due to automatic archiving and back-up procedures. Please note that in the event of a legal dispute between you and Bombardier, your personal data may be retained until final settlement of the legal dispute.
  • Objecting to or restricting the processing of your personal data. You can ask us to stop using all or some of your personal data (e.g. if we have no lawful basis to keep using it) or restrict how we process it.
  • Withdrawing your consent. Where we rely on your consent as the legal basis for processing your personal data, you can withdraw your consent at any time and you can prevent further processing if there is no other legal basis upon which Bombardier can process your personal data.
  • Porting your personal data. You can ask us to transfer the personal data that we hold about you to a third party electronically.

Information collected by cookies is stored in cookie files located on your device, and thus can be accessed or modified by you without involving us.

Once we receive your request, we will get back to you within 30 days. It’s possible that we cannot comply with your request, for instance, if it’s not applicable under the law. If we can’t process your request, we will provide you with explanations.
