Sub-Contractor - Engineering Professional SR, Mechanical Engineering, Experimental Design

What are your contributions to the team?

  • Design mechanical installations for complex experimental systems (flight test aircraft, structural or systems test rigs, wind tunnel models) related to new aircraft development, as well as defense projects.
  • Design structural and aircraft systems modifications required to convert an aircraft into a flight test vehicle.
  • Carry out design activities using CATIA V5 and Siemens NX software.
  • Plan and adhere to project schedule deadlines while respecting allocated
  • Interpret technical requirements related to the aerospace domain to develop robust solutions that meet design criteria while optimizing cost and lead time.
  • Conduct preliminary structural stress analysis on the designed installations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, act as a technical leader, influence stakeholders, build strong relationships, and actively contribute to team development.
  • Ensure project execution by working closely with the experimental shop and actively supporting manufacturing, assembly, and installation phases.
  • Manage priorities in complex environments and confidently present technical solutions to management teams.

How to thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field, with at least fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in mechanical design within the aerospace sector.
  • Advanced proficiency in CATIA V5 and Siemens NX design software, as well as Microsoft Office tools, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of structures, materials, and standard components used in aerospace and industrial sectors, with experience in the design of machined parts, welded assemblies, sheet metal components and instrumentation.
  • Solid understanding of aerospace technical and regulatory requirements, with proven ability to manage complex projects including planning, budget tracking, and risk management.
  • Recognized technical leadership within multidisciplinary teams, with the ability to influence stakeholders, build strong relationships, and demonstrate accountability, sound judgment, and strong team spirit.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) – an asset.
  • Eligibility for registration under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) – an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills in both French and English – an asset.
