We are currently looking to recruit a Train Control Test Engineer for our site in Derby, UK

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The RoQ organisation in Derby specialises in the design of bogies, bodyshell, TCMS, traction and braking systems, underframe equipment structural approval, service support, warranty support and electrical equipment.

The role covers a highly experienced software test engineer who is capable to test complex TCMS products/applications.

The candidate must be capable to work independently based on a product knowledge and know-how about state-of-the-art software engineering methods. The products are integrated in the overall TCMS Platform which is the train control system of a rail vehicle.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Fulfil the responsibilities and main activities within the assigned project or work package such as Classification Tree Methods (CTM), Test Infrastructure, Test Specification, Test applications, Test Execution, Test Automation;

- Build Environment Support;

- Working on testing of software products and applications, including documentation;

- Gathering information to solve testing issues considering features and constraints such as reliability, safety and maintainability in test environment;

- Decide on the optimum solution for a test approach;

- Identify V&V activities to ensure that requirements, architecture and design specifications are fulfilled;

- Develop necessary mechanisms to optimise the test execution, by automating test specifications and improving the test infrastructure;

- Undertake and report back on progress of the activities allocated by the test lead within the assigned project/work package;

- Ensuring correct time reporting as agreed in the project or work package;

- Support projects to tailor the test strategy for their concrete needs.

Qualifications

- Bachelor or Master degree in Science or Engineering, graduate in computer science, information technology, electronics, electronics and communication or any other relevant discipline;

- Strong experience as a Test Engineer;

- Solid programming skills in C++ and C# for software implementation and testing purpose;

- Advanced understanding of software requirements, architecture and design;

- Advanced experience in automation testing;

- Intermediated knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP and Vehicle Control protocols;

- Basic knowledge of UML;
