Engineering Professional-Flight Control Laws Design, Development and Analysis-Fly by Wire Aircraft

The CLaws team is responsible for the design, development, testing and certification of the Fly-by-Wire (FBW) flight control laws for the next generation Bombardier aircraft which at present includes the Global 7000/8000 business jet and the Ecojet Blended Wing body (BWB) experimental aircraft.  The CLaws provide a means to manage the aircraft response due to pilot inputs, to reduce pilot workload and to meet the handling quality and performance/structural loads requirements along with providing additional flight and structural envelope protections.

What are your contributions to the team?

  • Write requirements for existing experimental model-based CLaws to meet functional requirements and in accordance to the DO-178B standard and SAE ARP 4754
  • Perform CLaws validation and verification (V&V) for a new experimental primary flight computer
  • If needed, update the Claws design model as well as the corresponding assessment tools using Matlab and C++ programming

How to thrive in this role?

  • You must possess a Bachelor or higher degree in Aerospace Engineering
  • You must have an understanding of testing methods for model-based CLaws
  • You are familiar with the DO-178B standards (or more recent), system requirements verification and validation methods (ARP 4754).
  • You should be proficient in using Matlab and Simulink
  • You should be proficient in programming Matlab scripts
  • You should have an understanding of C/C++ programming
  • You must be fluent in written and spoken English
  • You must be an innovative team player, self-motivated and able to work independently

 

Preference will be given to applicants with commercial aircraft experience and additional programming skills such as C++
