Overview
Within the Data, AI & Automation team of Bombardier, reporting to the Manager of Data Integration & Business Intelligence CoE, the Data Solution Architect is responsible for defining, governing, and designing enterprise data and analytics solutions that align with business objectives, enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and data governance policies. The role provides architecture leadership across initiatives involving data integration, analytics, AI/ML, cloud platforms, and business intelligence.
What are your contributions to the team?
- Architect cloud data solutions (OLAP, OLTP, API, SQL, NoSQL, Lakehouse, BI) that complies with approved architecture framework, standards, and principles.
- Design and document functional aspect of analytics solutions (data model, metadata usage or creation requirement, reference/master data integration).
- Design and document non-functional aspects of analytics solutions (observability, availability, backup, archival, disaster recovery, security compliance).
- Assist the support team to troubleshoot or optimize solution performance after project delivery.
- Work with Technical Delivery Leads, Data Engineers, BI and ML/AI developers to translate technical specifications into data & analytics solutions (data ingestion, integrations, transformations and serving/sharing).
- Align your technical solutions to the data governance policies and data management strategy.
- Investigate data quality issues impacting the business and propose solutions to address root cause.
- Support definition of the data platform usage rules and monitor compliance (ingesting, processing and access management)
- Collaborate with multiple departments, stakeholders, partners, and external vendors.
How to thrive in this role?
- You hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or related technical fields.
- You have at least 10 years of data modeling, data pipeline development (ETL/ELT), data warehouse and lakehouse administration.
- You have 5 years’ experience in delivering complex solution in a Databricks Lakehouse environment.
- You have expertise in cloud-based data platform capable to support big data analytics use cases
- You have a good understanding of security principles for cloud-hosted data and analytics solutions.
- You are familiar with data integration architecture, microservice architecture, and API-based solutions.
- You are keeping up to date with columnar and NoSQL databases, data visualization, and processing of unstructured data.
- You have experience with data file format for large scale analytics (CSV, JSON, Parquet, ORC, AVRO, …).
- You have knowledge of XML Schema Definition (XSD), JSON and XML Metadata Interchange (XMI).
- Azure Solution Architect, Databricks Data Engineer/Architect, or equivalent certifications are considered assets
- You can resolve complex problems and provide innovative solutions.
- You are flexible and can adapt towards changing organizational needs.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive architectural decisions across multiple teams and business domains.
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- You have business level proficiency of English and French.
