What are your contributions to the team?
We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate Lead DevOps Engineer as part of our Cloud Center of Excellence team. The Lead DevOps Engineer takes a leadership position in the design, development, and maintenance of the cloud CI/CD infrastructure and services. You would also be responsible for mentoring junior members of the team, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring that the cloud environment is secure, efficient, and scalable. You will work closely with software development teams to ensure that their applications are designed to be cloud-native, with a focus on continuous delivery and deployment.
The ideal candidate will have experience in customer or LOB-facing roles and vendor partners.
More specifically, as part of your position, you will be called upon to:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of DevOps and Containerization services across multiple cloud platforms
- Research, analyse and propose DevOps management tools and best practice workflows
- Design, build, and maintain automated deployment CI/CD pipelines that are scalable, efficient, and highly available across multiple cloud environments
- Define the provisioning and management of cloud resources, including virtual machines, containers, and storage, to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency. IaaC (Infrastructure as a Service)
- Participate in the development of the overall DevOps strategy and roadmap for the organization
- Ensure that the cloud infrastructure and services meet all security and compliance requirements, and lead the response to any security incidents
- Identify areas for process improvement and work with the team to implement new tools and technologies to increase efficiency and reduce downtime
- Work with members of the CCoE team to identify and implement new tools and technologies that can improve the general efficiency and effectiveness of DevOps operations
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the team, and ensure that all work is completed to a high standard
- Collaborate with other teams across the organization to understand their development requirements and provide solutions that meet their needs
- Develop and maintain documentation and training materials to support the ongoing development of the team
- Participate in community development workshops and act as technical guidance reference for software engineering and tool/platform usage
- Act as evangelist of DevSecOps practice at Bombardier, deliver presentation and training to various audience (technical and non-technical).
How to thrive in this role?
- You have a bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology or a related field
- You have 10+ years of work experience in an IT role
- You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a DevOps or cloud engineering role, with a focus on designing, developing and maintaining complex CI/CD cloud services across multiple cloud platforms.
- You have hands-on experience with software development lifecycle management, automation tools for developing CI/CD pipelines
- You possesse a working knowledge with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform, including networking, security and automation experience.
- You have experience with software development methodologies and tools, such as Agile, DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- You have expertise with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, as well as experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet or Chef.
- You have working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell and Infrastructure as Code
- You have expereince in problem solving skills and ability to solve complex problems in a cloud environment.
- You possess strong communication and collaboration skills as the role requires working closely with software development teams, cloud architects and other stakeholders.
- You have leadership and mentorship experience, with experience leading and mentoring junior team members.
- You have a demonstrated growth mindset, an enthusiasm to quickly learn new technologies and apply the knowledge acquired to solve business problems.
- You have certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer can also be beneficial.
- You are highly skilled in problem solving and ability to resolve complex issues in a cloud environment.
- You are fluent in English and French both orally and in writing.
