Context
Reporting to the Vice President, Planning & Methods, the Director, Central Planning plays a key role in the governance, transformation, and strategic alignment of the Planning & Methods function across Bombardier’s operations. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the organizational transformation roadmap, ensuring alignment and consistency across planning schedules, overseeing a multi-site project portfolio, and supporting executive decision-making related to business priorities, risks, budgets, workforce planning, and strategic initiatives.
In this role, you act as a central point of integration among Planning, Methods, Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Programs, Sales, Contracts, Legal, and Customer Account Management teams to ensure effective execution of organizational priorities, including transformation initiatives such as the S/4HANA migration and Customer Horizon Management for Global and Challenger programs. The Director also provides governance for the Planning & Methods function, supports the Vice President in establishing strategic priorities and monitoring organizational performance, and leads, develops, and engages a multidisciplinary team in a culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
What are your contributions to the team?
- Develop and coordinate the organizational transformation roadmap for the Planning & Methods function, aligned with Bombardier’s business objectives, including the migration to S/4HANA.
- Ensure alignment and consistency across planning schedules established by Planning teams throughout Bombardier to support production plan feasibility, change management, and executive decision-making.
- Lead the management of a multi-site project portfolio, including roadmap development, budget planning and tracking, investments, workforce planning, and strategic initiatives, while ensuring proactive risk management.
- Lead strategic and tactical initiatives requiring the coordination of multidisciplinary teams (Operations, Sales, Finance, Contracts, Legal, Customer Account Management, Product Planning, etc.) to support delivery commitments and contractual obligations for Global and Challenger programs (Customer Horizon Management).
- Ensure governance of the Planning & Methods function by supporting the Vice President in establishing strategic priorities, monitoring organizational performance, and driving action plans.
- Provide executive visibility on key performance indicators, risks, issues, and opportunities to support senior leadership decision-making.
- Lead, develop, and engage a multidisciplinary team of project managers and analysts.
- Establish team priorities, objectives, and development plans.
- Lead process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster a work environment focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.
- Develop succession plans and contribute to the organization’s talent management strategy.
How to thrive in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an asset.
- 15+ years of experience in aerospace or a complex manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated experience leading organizational or operational transformation initiatives.
- Strong strategic mindset combined with a proven ability to execute.
- Ability to effectively manage complexity, ambiguity, and competing priorities.
- Strong leadership, people management, and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent business acumen.
