What are your contributions to the team?
Provide Leadership for Government and Regulatory Affairs globally, with a focus on Europe, International and Canada
- Lead the establishment of a Government Affairs presence in Europe and other regions to proactively develop relationships with key government and industry stakeholders.
- Monitor regulatory and policy developments that may impact Bombardier’s interests, and report on these to key internal stakeholders.
- Influence policy and regulatory developments, with a view to advancing Bombardier’s interests in Canada, Europe and other key regions.
- Develop and implement engagement strategies with government and industry stakeholders to address specific issues as they emerge.
- Provide troubleshooting support to various Bombardier functions for issues where governments play a role.
- Explore, identify and apply for programs to support training, R&D, industrialization initiatives and defence, in line with Bombardier’s priorities.
- Proactively manage and leverage Bombardier’s membership to key industry associations in Europe, Canada and other key markets, to advance our interests and priorities.
- Provide leadership in strategy development and implementation for advancing Bombardier’s sustainability agenda.
Provide Leadership for Defence Affairs globally
- Support our defence campaigns, working closely with the sales and marketing team.
- Develop and implement strategies for pre-tender engagement to position our defence solutions and influence requirements setting.
- Identify and deliver on thought leadership opportunities in defence policy.
Budget and Management

Lead in proactively managing the government and industry affairs resources (teams and budgets):
o Support establishment of annual budget plans and budget requests.
o Monitor budget allocations, spends and implementation, including tracking budgets and advising managers of potential overages.
o Put in place purchase orders, as required, process invoices and support sponsorship and services contract negotiations and conclusions. -
Establish and manage international presence:
o Investigate potential locations and models for global presence of government and industry affairs.
o Benchmark against peers and competitors’ global presence for government and industry affairs.
o Develop and implement deployment plans, including recruitment and activation.
Team and Project Management
- Support Vice-President, Government and Industry Affairs, in managing the Government and Industry Affairs team.
- Provide leadership and coaching to Government and Industry Affairs team.
- Manage preparation of briefing materials for executives’ meetings.
Budget et gestion
- Assurer une gestion proactive des ressources liées aux affaires gouvernementales et industrielles (équipes et budgets)
o Soutenir l’élaboration des plans budgétaires annuels et des demandes budgétaires.
o Surveiller les affectations budgétaires, les dépenses et leur mise en œuvre, notamment par le suivi des budgets et la communication aux gestionnaires des risques de dépassement.
o Mettre en place les bons de commande, au besoin, traiter les factures et soutenir la négociation ainsi que la conclusion des contrats de commandite et de services.
- Établir et gérer une présence internationale
o Étudier les emplacements et les modèles potentiels pour une présence mondiale des affaires gouvernementales et industrielles.
o Réaliser des analyses comparatives des pratiques des pairs et des concurrents en matière de présence internationale dans ce domaine.
o Élaborer et mettre en œuvre les plans de déploiement, y compris le recrutement et la mise en opération.
- Gestion d’équipe et de projets
o Soutenir le ou la vice-président(e), Affaires gouvernementales et industrielles, dans la gestion de l’équipe.
o Fournir du leadership et du mentorat à l’équipe des affaires gouvernementales et industrielles.
o Gérer la préparation des documents d’information destinés aux réunions des membres de la haute direction.
How to thrive in this role?
- You have a minimum of fifteen (15) years of related experience in Government or Industry Affairs, or Public Policy roles;
- You hold a bachelor degree in public affairs or a related discipline;
- You have strong knowledge in Government Affairs, Public Affairs, Public Policy and International Affairs/Trade;
- You have excellent communication skills, English and French (both spoken and written);
- You are familiar with the senior levels of Government and related institutions;
- You have excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook software in a Windows environment and a strong knowledge of social media platforms.
- You have strong organizational, management and mentorship skills
- You have excellent Judgment and Strategic Thinking skills
- You have the ability to work within short deadlines and under pressure
- You are a strong team player and good communicator
