What are your contributions to the team?
The Director of Engineering, Aftermarket is responsible for providing strategic, technical, and people leadership for all Aftermarket Engineering activities, including Business Aircraft Services (BAS), Aftermarket New Product Development (NPD), and In‑Service Engineering (ISE). The role ensures the delivery of safe, compliant, and high‑quality engineering solutions that support aftermarket revenue growth, fleet reliability, continued operational safety, and customer satisfaction across Bombardier business aircraft programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide overall leadership, accountability, and strategic direction for Aftermarket Engineering, including BAS Engineering, Aftermarket NPD, and In‑Service Engineering (ISE).
• Establish engineering strategies, priorities, and resource plans aligned with business objectives, customer commitments, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop multi year strategic plans for Aftermarket Engineering in coordination with Finance, Program Management, and senior leadership
• Lead and support Integrated Product Development Teams (IPDTs) to deliver modifications, STCs, service bulletins, and new aftermarket products from concept through certification and entry into service.
• Monitor and control engineering costs, staffing levels, and external spend to ensure cost effectiveness while maintaining safety, quality, and schedule commitments.
• Support business cases for aftermarket investments, including new product development, capability growth, and process improvement initiatives, ensuring clear return on investment and resource justification.
• Ensure timely and effective engineering support for in‑service aircraft, including investigation and resolution of in‑service issues, AOG support, and continued operational safety activities.
• Drive operational excellence through governance, metrics, risk management, and continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and systems.
• Support customer‑facing activities by providing technical leadership, issue resolution, and strategic guidance.
• Lead and develop managers, section chiefs, technical integrators, and senior engineers across multiple disciplines and locations.
• Build a strong engineering culture focused on accountability, collaboration, safety, quality, and technical excellence.
• Manage performance, talent development, succession planning, and workforce planning to ensure long‑term organizational capability.
• Promote employee engagement, inclusion, and continuous learning across the engineering organization.
How to thrive in this role?
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 15+ Years of experience in aerospace engineering, including aftermarket, aircraft modification, certification, and/or in‑service support.
• Demonstrated experience leading large, multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
• Strong knowledge of airworthiness, certification, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to lead complex programs, manage risk, and deliver results in a dynamic business environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in engineering or business.
• Experience working with global engineering teams and external regulatory authorities.
• Demonstrated success driving organizational transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
