In the Mechanical Engineering Career Path, you will start your journey by building-up your technical knowledge through rotations in up to 5 of the following teams over a 2-year period:

  • Aircraft Performance
  • Engine Performance
  • Advanced Design
  • Advanced Structures
  • Advanced Aerodynamics
  • Loads & Dynamics
  • Aircraft Simulation
  • Control Laws and Stability & Control 
  • Reliability Maintainability and Safety (RMAS)
  • Flight Test
  • Operation Support

What are your contributions to the team?

 

  • Participate in the preparation of comparative studies between Bombardier products and associated competitors, while developing various aircraft models (performance, geometry, etc.) of existing or potential new aircraft
  • Develop aircraft simulation models which include the aircraft flight dynamics and their systems
  • Participate/conduct Aircraft & Engine Performance analyses including Database creation, FMS interactions, Performance SW updates & flight test data analyses and CFAR Part 525 certification requirements  
  • Understand how simulation models are integrated and maintained in our engineering simulator
  • Support wind tunnel, flight and simulation tests followed by required analyses and documentation
  • Support aircraft production for aerodynamics and aircraft handling related issues 
  • Analyze the pilot in the loop Control Laws based on handling qualities, test pilot assessment and aircraft requirements
  • Support the RMAS interaction (system functional hazard analysis, aircraft & system fault tree analysis, system safety assessment, and failure mode) within various BA functions, integrators, and Design Approval Designees as well as Transport Canada
  • Perform aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic simulations to support new aircraft design studies, ground & flight testing, and continued airworthiness of in-service aircraft
  • Develop and maintain finite element models to compute airframe design loads and perform flutter analysis

How to thrive in this role? Skills, knowledge & experience:

 

  • You have less than 2 years of post-graduation work experience
  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or other related field)—completed in 2023 or will be completed by May 2025 
  • You have a passion and unrelenting desire to learn about aviation 
  • You have an innovative mindset and are eager to take on new challenges in dynamic environment
  • You are motivated and enjoy working in a collaborative team player who strives for success 
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French
  • You have knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Suite
  • You are eligible to work in Canada and to travel to the United States for a 3-month assignment
  • Knowledge of programming languages: Python, C/C++, MATLAB or other is an asset
  • Previous internship in the aviation industry is an asset
